At last!

I am back in Iowa 😭👍 With a proper internet connection and everything! I'm catching up on some stuff, and then it'll be time for a nice shower and sleep.

"Fun" bit from the plane ride south that I didn't feel like typing out on my phone: I had a two-plane trip, right? And the airline I was going on basically turned off all the non-individual lights shortly after we took off. This wasn't terrible the first flight (started late afternoon, went to evening-ish), but since the second started once the sun had already gone down and I wanted to get some reading done, I put my own light on.

Seems like a guy in the row right in front of me wanted to block the light out and get some sleep. Rather than get me to turn the light out or anything like that, he simply moved his face mask from covering his nose and mouth to covering his eyes, leaving his mouth and nose completely uncovered. On a plane where everyone had been told before boarding that, not only were face masks mandatory, they had to be good face masks, no lace or vents.

I prodded him in the shoulder with my book to wake him up/get his attention and offered him my hat to cover his eyes if he needed something to block the light so badly. He didn't take me up on it, but he at least got the hint and put his face mask back over his breathing holes. Had he not, I was fully prepared to one-up the passive-aggressiveness and call a flight attendant on him, either to help him figure out how face masks work or to ask them to find him an actual sleep mask, since he needed one so desperately. Just as well that I didn't have to, probably.

I ended up turning out my light part way through the flight anyway as motion sickness settled in. I don't know how I managed to get through the first fourteen years of my life without motion sickness problems, but I'd like to find out so I can go back to that.

Edit: Oh, right: I will be staying in as much as possible the next two weeks. I'll be leaving the house to walk the dog, maybe go for a drive, but that's it. No leaving the car either unless it's related to dog-walking.
