If there is one thing I have taken away from the huge surge in isekai stories right now, it's that we've never really grown out of the urge to write and read self-inserts and Mary-Sue stories; the thin veneer of plausible deniability helps, though. (And I do occasionally like learning about new characters and worlds.)

In which change has pros and cons

In other news, we just got all new chef coats at work. While I'm reasonably jazzed about the zipper and the snaps that help keep sleeves rolled up, the switch from cotton to a poly-cotton blend (emphasis on poly) with air vents is Not Ideal, and I am entirely dismayed by the lack of front breast pocket. I used that to listen to my phone, darnit! I don't always want to be taking over the bluetooth speaker, and it's not like I can legally wear headphones, even if I was willing to risk missing crucial work interactions that way!

It put me out of sorts for several hours today, I'm not afraid to say. It also put me in mind of finding a way to wrangle my own aprons that I could include some sort of "top pocket" on. Surely there must be a way. And it'd definitely be cheaper for me than buying my own chef coats and bringing them from home, though that is certainly another option. Gotta buy new clogs first, though; my current pair has practically worn through the bottom layer of the soles.
