First of all, learning languages. Who knew it could be so much fun? And why the hell didn't I take one earlier? I mean, there's doing something for credit, and there's doing something because you enjoy it. If I knew this was going to fall into the latter category, I would've done it earlier :O

Second, Vampire Squid. I kid you not. I can't help but think the image looks more like a dragon than a squid, but maybe that's just me.

Edit: Mentioned the Vampire Squid thing to Jeva. Had an interesting talk that ended with a challenge.

Long story short, I need a name and/or concept for a possibly squid-themed villain(ess?) for a magical girl parody. Oh, and Kalimari/variation thereon is taken. Icka, don't kill me.

Edit 2: Thoughts so far:
Villain(ess?) will be Cephalopod themed, as this includes octopi, squid, cuttlefish, and other such creatures. Octopi will play a major roll, since they are obviously the squid's natural rival.
Love interest will be a Masked Kiwi of some sort. He will probably have weapons/abilities based on plants and birds.
Still have some details to work out on the Magical Girl In Question. Thinking at the moment of calling her alter-ego 'Mari'. Have trouble? Call Mari!
Also, Icka? The 'me' has been extended to 'us'.

Edit 3: *scraps any idea she might have had of even pretending to disguise names/identities and enter RSoM with/sell somewhere/what-have-you and opens up to a free-for-all*

Edit 4: *also abandons the notion of keeping the comic under PG-13-equivalent*

Edit 5: Preliminary sketch of Maho Shoujo Ika (for lack of a better name). More than a few artistic liberties have been taken, as all I've had to work off of image-wise were the few remaining self-portraits Icka had up and one blurry photograph.

Hopefully you can read my handwriting, which explains the basics of suggested powers (to the right of Magical Girl Icka) and description of the costume (above, below, and to the left). To the right of the Squid Wand are directions for... finding it, I suppose. Also included are the three things (besides New Zelanders) that I remember Kiwis being from Girl Scout Camp way back when. Did an online search to double-check the fern, but I'm still a little doubtful about it.

Hopefully I'll be able to come up with a front-view sketch sometime in the future. As well as things like other characters, and the evil villain(ess)'s Vampiric Squid minions that drain energy from unsuspecting prey (possibly otaku?). Still working on things.

Also, this is far more than just two things now.

Tying/binding action (tentacle ribbon?)
Summons squid of any size to any body of water--the bigger the squid, the more power it takes to summon. [Therefore, usually a last-ditch thing when near (at least) a puddle. (Creates a link to the ocean where the squid would live and calls it to the surface to help)]
Generates light
Tentacles:
Whip(?)
Turn people/characters gay/bi
Costume:
Camouflage [misspelled on paper]
Generates light
Wing-fins can sprout above waist (flight)
Costume description:
*Tiara - triangle on top of squid--fin things?
*Goggles (lenses look like squid eyes)
*Gloves/boots have suction cups for better gripping
*Long tentacles can stretch to any length? Suction cups on the end.

Kiwis are...
*Silver ferns

*Fruits
[These in addition to the nickname for anyone from New Zeland, again as I remember it from Girl Scout Camp.]

Bah. Squid totally already have wings. Or at least, Vampire Squid do. Most of the rest of them have some sort of flappy-things. And I'm going to be using those extra two for long ribbon-like things in the back :O *has art plans already*

...Compromise: as far as the heraldry goes, they mutated to form wings. As far as the magical girl costume goes, she gets wings and extra tentacles. (Plus a nifty crown and goggles :D)
