...Yeah, okay. Any good bittorrent client recs out there? Easy to use important, free more important. Please? ...I hate to do it, but I'm at the point where I'm willing to trade fic or art for a suggestion here =_= If I don't get any suggestions, I'm probably just going to resort to BitTornado, as I know where to find it.

And now, so this post isn't entirely useless, here's some more Spanish exersizes!

(Yeah, so, instructions on typing letters with accents would probably be useful at this point, too.)

Last one's my favorite ^__^ One of my group members misheard us and wanted to write it as Anamae, Iowa. She thought Anamae would be the name of a town in Iowa (which, considering we have a Jamaica and a Moscow, wouldn't be that much of a stretch), and that it sounded like a really boring place, so why would we want to go there anyway?

I don't personally have any experience with Azureus (as you know, I have a slow, slow dialup connection, this is entirely unsuitable for BitTorrent), however I'll recommend it anyway. My reasons for this mainly fall into line because Azureus is available from SourceForge. SourceForge is a fine source for software. I've used them numerous times and never been disappointed. I'm pretty sure that all of the software available from SourceForge is covered under the Gnu Protection License (GPL), which means (among other things) that it must be free. You should check them out. http://sourceforge.net/ Or, more specifically for Azureus, http://sourceforge.net/projects/azureus/ Enjoy.

I second the vote for Azureus; I've used it and I really loved it. HOWEVER, since it's written in Java, it is a huge memory hog. It worked fine for me for a while, but then it ate up so much of my resources (dunno how it did, since it originally worked fine...just started eating up more and more when I haven't installed any new programs or done any changes to my computer...O_o) I had to uninstall it. I use BitComet now; workable, not as nice, not as flashy, but at least it's usable.

When you say 160 gigs, you are referring to the size of the hard disk. That's not a problem. That to which hakaisha referred was memory, RAM, not disk. I don't know what your new computer has for memory; I'd guess 512MB.

I'd expect you to be okay as long as you close the program between downloads and your downloads don't take 10 days to two weeks (like Tiralmo's). Once you close the program, all the program's memory should be restored to the heap. ("Heap" actually is a term in computer science for certain of the available memory.) I don't know the specifics of hakaisha's resource problem, but I'd still recommend giving Azureus a shot.

Thanks for the fandom-wise offer, but I think I'll pass. Going to any cons this year?

Huh? I heard my name. :P

I'll third Azureus. 'Tis my favorite, though I've only tried BitTorrent, BitTornado, BitComet, and Azureus.

My downloads only took so many days because I hadn't yet figured out how to open ports on my router for BitTorrent (almost essential for quick downloads with BitTorrent, there are FAQs online for any who haven't done this already).

As for memory problems? I had those when I started using Azureus on a 128MB RAM computer too, but found a solution. Just increase the virtual memory size ("An area on the hard disk that Windows uses as if it were RAM."). With windows XP, start>>control panel>>performance and maintenance>>system>>advanced>>settings button (in performance section)>>advanced>>change button (in virtual memory section), and adjust the maximum size upward(and possibly initial size as well, I'm not sure). I'd suggest increments of about 100 MBs, as many times as it takes to work (though if it takes more than a couple, you may want to check to see if anything else is causing problems on your computer). Depending on what preferences you have, the exact order may be slightly different, but once you get into system in the control panel, it should be the same. Other versions of windows should also be similar enough, though the virtual memory options may be located elsewhere (I'm not sure).

So if you do start running out of resources, you should try that. Hakaisha, you may want to see if that solves your Azureus problems as well.

I don't know about good ones, but I'd advise against BitComet. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's behind my hard drive crash. There weren't any problems with it until I downloaded it. =/
