It appears to be meme day in my journal! :D Ganked from places I lurk somewhere, because I feel like writing smut today.

Give me a series/pairing and an emotion, and I'll write at least two paragraphs of smut.

Short for MST3K, or Mystery Science Theater 3000. It's a show where this guy and his robots are trapped in space and forced to watch terrible movies for all eternity by some mad scientist and his lackey. To keep from going insane, the guy and robots make smart-aleck comments during the movies. In fics, to MST is to take a (usually bad) fic by another author and either you (and possibly some friends) rip it apart bit by bit with snide comments, or a set of characters (not neccessarily from the fic's fandom) rip it apart bit by bit with snide comments.

...And if you already knew the basics, sorry for taking up time ¦D

I don't think you'll tear into it too much. I tend to make random comments during the movie, but all I could do was grin whenever my friend Shannon was all "Oooh" and "Aaah" or figured out a piece of the plot.

But yeah...I might be too nice is all. XP

I, ah, didn't much care for the book, actually ^^a So tearing into is might be a problem for me, yes. Though I read at one of the places I lurk that, coincidentally, also had this meme up heard from another not-fan that they liked the movie better, so. Here's hoping?

The movie was pretty accurate to the book, so there won't be much to poke at there, and the directing and acting and music was pretty much spot-on.

Hopefully you'll like it, but eh...to each their own~

Eh...I don't care if you critique the book. Personally, I don't care much for the book either, I'm just activing supportive because everyone's been tearing into it and I've gotten tired of hearing all the things that the book has gotten wrong about history and religion and whatnot...

So if you have some comments that differ from those that the populace has been saying, please...do say them.

...:D;;; Actually, I didn't like the writing style (it had a very immature feel, I think), and I felt like I was being duped into believing what it had to say. Um. Is that different enough?

Yeah, that's fine. Actually, I've heard others say they didn't like the writing style. Understandable, but I liked it for the sheer fact that it was a rather simple way of writing than boggled down with words. But yeah...I can see how people wouldn't like the writing style.

The feeling like you were being duped into believing what it said is something I didn't personally feel, so...yeah...I dunno...but I always have the thought in mind that it's purely a book of fiction and even if it can be a sound theory (not saying it is, mind...there's too many flaws for it to be a sound theory), it's still written within a book of fiction and therefore, until it is proven, purely made up within the mind of the author.

...but yes, those are two good reasons to not like the book. And thankfully, they're different from the populace~!

I had some character issues as well, but I'm not getting into that here.

As to the feeling of being duped, it's mostly because I tend to believe things when I'm not given a reason to do otherwise. Brown's little "Everything in this book except the events" disclaimer threw me off in that respect. Just like Goldman claiming that The Princess Bride was originally written by S. Morgenstern and only pared down by him threw me off (though a re-read made it slightly more obvious ^^a). So yeah, it's not so much the content as that it was presented as fact and I fell for it.
