soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Chaos Theory)

Aargh =_= Hate anxiety attacks. I really need to make an appointment with my psychiatrist, but that would require using the phone, and I think my people skills are regressing. Possibly I'll need to make an appoinment or three with my psychologist as well >_< I need to figure things out so I can feel better. And so I can do something. (I don't think I've ever said this, but the words of the frog from Dealing With Dragons have kinda stuck with me over the years: "Nine times out of ten, talking is a way of getting out of doing things." I don't think it's true all of the time, but it's certainly true enough.)

Anyway, onto the evening. Tomas is coming home from Space Camp tomorrow, so Mom and Dad decided to spoil me a bit today. First Mom took me out to dinner, since Dad wasn't that hungry. We went to J's Fish and Chips so I could finally try katsudon ♥ It was quite good. Sweeter than I expected. They had a help wanted sign up, for cooks and cashiers, and I ended up trying to explain to Mom for several minutes why trying to get a job there (as opposed to, say, just about any other random restaurant) intimidated me. The spoken word failed me once again; I'm really better with words either when I'm writing, or when I can keep it short and simple and still be relatively well understood. Mom ended up grabbing an application for me. I'm not sure whether I'm grateful or not, though I'm leaning slightly more towards 'yes' than 'no'.

We went out to a movie next. It took some narrowing down, since the closest mall has a decaplex and all that. Plus, the three of us have rather different movie tastes. We ended up going to see Click, which I didn't much care for in the long run. Couldn't really get a bead on how my parents liked it; I don't think I'm much good at that sort of thing anyway--I take things at face value a lot. Over all, I think I would've been happier taking a trip to K-Mart or Wal-Mart, finding a new watch (because my wrist feels naked without one), and possibly checking for the forth Avatar DVD--which I should probably check the release date for anyway.

New subject time! Anyone know anything about surfing? All I know is what I learned from television--and considering I have yet to watch documentaries about it, I can safely say it's not much. At the moment, information about boards is especially appreciated. I'll probably be doing a google image search on 'em tomorrow, since that's landed me some interesting info in the past and so I can learn to draw 'em at the same time (see also: goldfish), but if anyone can give me some basics now I'd appreciate it.

I know this isn't going to help at all, but I just love the scene from Apocalypse Now in which the surfing nut army major tells some of his underlings that they can either surf or they can fight, whereupon we see surfing amidst mortar and machine gun fire at a Vietnamese coastal village. "A six foot peak!" Heh.

I'm certainly willing to lend it to you if you'd like to see it. Oh, my, it's a classic. Based on Joseph Conrad's Heart Of Darkness, it was updated from mid 19th century Congo to the madness of the Vietnam war. It's horrifying. It's beautiful. It's unique.

You have a local place that serves katsudon? I'm jealous. I can usually only get it in Chicago or Seattle. Or I have to make it myself.

I do have a recipe, BTW, if you're interested.
