Real Life tidbits and fandom blather

soc_puppet...Okay, I'm calling it; it has been much too long since I last updated.
With the AC working again, I can sleep at night (note that can =/= do), but the basement is also frigid >_< ...The basement being the place where I spend most of my time, it having both my room and the computer. I usually end up sitting with a blanket over my lap and wishing either to turn the AC down or to open the back door (which is only yards from the computer). Very much a mixed blessing. I should probably just close the vents a couple of places, but I don't know what that would do to the rest of the house.
Anyway, moving on.
Sang at the Ceder Rapids GLBT pride fest with a few other Quire members today. ...There wasn't a very big crowd, I'm sad to say. On either end of things. I also kinda felt really, really awkward ^^;;; Didn't much help that I was there alone and don't really know anyone in CR. It wasn't bad, though. Note to self: Buy more confidence the next time you're at the store.

Been meaning to talk about this ever since Toph (I think this is the generally accepted/official spelling?) appeared. Possibly even before.
On Toph: ...I was really expecting not to like Toph. I mean, we're already a third of the way through the series (by my bad fan estimation), and they're introducing a new permanant character? Bad feeling in my gut for that. And then she turned out to be unadulterated awesome. I kept thinking how bad it was that I was crushing on a twelve year old female cartoon character--and then my brain 'helpfully' broke in and gave me an image of what she might look like in another two, four, six, eight years, etc =_= Crush is somewhat more justified now, but it still feels illegal. Need to try and draw her like that sometime.
On Azula: Unlike Toph, I expected to like Azula. In fact, I had high hopes for her. I'm guessing I was just spoiled by Itachi or something, because she did not live up to my expectations. I'm still hoping there will be something explained in backstory somewhere that will give her an excuse for acting like such a... spoiled brat is the closest I get to, I guess, with an extra dose of sociopathy. A large extra dose of sociopathy. Because yowch. ...Really don't like her at the moment.
On Zuko: Dammit Zuko, I really really want to like you, but it's hard when you keep insisting on being stupid! >:/ And insecure, and jealous, and... a whole bunch of stuff, really. There's qualities there I like, they're just mixed up with a bunch of stuff I don't.
On the most recent episode: Oh thank God Iroh didn't die. I love Iroh. I love him to little stupid fangirly mushy bits. And him dying so early in the series probably would've been worse to me than episode 25/chapter 15 of FMA.
The sabertoothed mooselion? Full of adorable and win. Also, had doubts that Katara would be right about Aang's learning method, but I'm glad she wasn't. It helped establish that some of the female territorialism had calmed down from previous episodes. She and Toph are still probably going to rub each other raw at times, but it seems better than it did.
...Okay, the Iroh--water tribe connection thing. Probably everyone and his dog are going on about this, so I'd better put in my two cents. ...It's really stupid fangirl theorizing, especially because I've missed a few episodes in the past, and probably wrong, but I can't help it at this point. So! Train of thought: We see Iroh mourning the loss of his (only) son, but never his wife. I don't recall from previous episodes whether she was ever even mentioned, so I'll assume (at the moment) that she wasn't. We are given in this episode evidence that he visited with water tribes for a while. In very previous episodes, it is mentioned that Katara's grandmother left her teacher for someone else. I have no memory of the show mentioning Katara's grandfather. Connecting the dots here and getting a really really bad theory. Someone else out there be a dear and contradict me? Thanks ♥
...Also getting the feeling that I am (once again) in the minority 'shipping wise. Which I can live with, really, but it was nice to be part of the majority for a while. And have less trouble finding what I wanted. And stuff. *le sigh*
And now, some random fic ramblings. Stuff I wanna work on sometime soon:
Kingdom Hearts:
• The Paopu fruit thing. Managed to get a start on the next section today. Still actually debating a few things for it.
• A self-indulgent OT3 fic.
• A self-indulgent OT3 fic with my other OT3.Because I was just two steps away from finding a way that the timeline could've worked out and they'd be the same OT3 when you get right down to it ;_; Now I just want someone to give me a comprehensive translation of what the Org member from the last unkown battle sceene says. I basically want to know if he actually uses 'I' in there, or if it's just implied, because if it's implied then I can probably get away with it. ...And I seem to have come up with a backup idea for it, even if it isn't. Though I'll need another Nobody to work with... *pondery ponder*
Naruto:
• A Gay Bar fic, which basically parodies gay bar fics in general.
• Another Gay Bar fic, based loosely on the song.
• More of the YonKyuu AU, darnit! 'Specially now that Sasuke's new outfit is feeding my Tengu crack theory.
• A fic about dillution. (Sasuke comes home fic A)
• ....This really weird seal fic that I'm gonna have to do more research for, as otherwise I'll end up screwing over canon and stuff, but might still work. And that has been in my head entirely too long anyway. (Sasuke comes home fic B)
DC/MK (when I can get over this @#%$@^ burnout on the fandom >___<)
• MORE COMMUNICATIONS. I have ideas for the next chapter or two, I just can't make myself write them.
• The Yuri Exchange stuff. *nervous laughter*
• The rest of Small Things. Because I wrote a prologue and two thirds of a chapter, and then it fell of the edge of nowhere.
• ...This giant pastfic thing that would be full of awesome and that I need to know more to make it work. But it would probably be worth it.
In general:
• The pr0n meme stuff. Because I need to get it finished, dammit! If I was planning on staying up later tonight, I'd hit 'em now, but as is I'm thinking that would be a bad idea ^^a
• My CFUD app :D;;; 'Cuz I said I would, and I wanna. *still needs ideas* *should probably get off her lazy butt and sign into MSN once in a while so she can harass Jeva about it*
