Semi-random LJ politics post

And to think, not two hours ago I was blissfully ignorant. Thank you, Mem.
And now, a request for the masses: anyone out there know of a John Stewart or Stephen Colbert equivalent for LJ-related news? Alternately, anyone know how I could go about finding such a one? 'Cuz a little snark could sure make this go down easier.
Edit: It takes about six pages to get to one positive comment on this, and even then I can't tell whether it's sarcastic or not.
Edit 2: Most I'm finding snark-wise so far are some entries by
azurelunatic. There's a nice summary of the entry where they announce the Sponsored+ account level here.
Edit 3: Giving up on looking. Went and created
theljailyshow. Still very much a WIP, so don't expect anything from it yet. Here's hoping I'll actually do something with it. (Though I suppose that the reason it's a comm and not a journal is just in case I don't.)
Edit 4: Snark from
askerian.
Edit 5: New information has gone up. Still digesting it.

Date: 2006-09-30 07:34 pm (UTC)True enough. Not very many people are approving of what's going on. Makes you wonder if there really will be an exodus because of this...I could see it happening...it's like when FF.N first started to become The Pit that we all know and love today. I was around for that, too, actually >.>;;;

Date: 2006-09-30 07:38 pm (UTC)'Cuz it's so true! ♥♥♥All I can really see here is a vicious circle. LJ is hard up for money -> LJ introduces (more) ads -> people stop renewing paid accounts -> go to step one.
I was watching FF.net around that time, but I don't recall whether I had an account there yet or not ^^a I have seen a number of their bad moves, though.

Date: 2006-09-30 07:43 pm (UTC)Dude, if they're hard up for money, they should go against the grain and go back to the "NO ADS EVAR!!!11!~" It would certain get them LOADS more paid accounts than what they're getting now...but no, apparently they like to spread 'em for the corporations these days. *sigh*
Oh, I was there a couple of years before that happened. If I remember correctly, that happened back around 2000-2001, and I had been on FF.N since around '98 or so. What was horrible, though, is that part of the reason they changed everything was because they had these message boards and uh...people spammed them (*IS
NOTAN INNOCENT LAMB*), and then afterward when FF.N took them down, they had all of these sever issues and once was down TWO WHOLE WEEKS during the end of August...and then dundunDUN--the lemons were banned.That spelled the end for FF.N >.>;;;
