Because I thought it would be fun to share: things my heartmarks turn into

...Okay, not just heartmarks. Also symbols like ¦ or foreign letters like ç. But mostly heartmarks, 'cuz that's what I use most often. Anyway, Yahoo!Mail reads 'em weird, and presents 'em as kanji. Here's some of what I've gotten:

ç:
鏰 and 莽

¦:
娄

Heartmarks:
鈾モ櫏鈾 (three hearts)
鈾モ櫏鈾モ櫏鈾 (five hearts)

鏰:
閺

In conclusion: Yahoo!Mail is weird. But also possibly an interesting reason to look up kanji meanings. Unless they're actually Chinese, in which case I'll have to find a different dictionary.

Edit: Bonus: What other people's heartmarks have turned into:

Edit 2: Okay, it's sort-of back to normal now. Kanji (and kana, thank you Pat) are now appearing as follows:

If you have windows, do you have East Asian Languages checked in your Regional settings, in the control panel? (It should be an option on the first page of the menus.)

....No I do not! :D *does so* ...Hmm, I don't know where the XP CD is. :(

...hm. There should be a non-CD option...did you try to install any langauge packs, or just enable suport?

It said I had to install language packs. *shrugs* I've just found the CD, so I'm gonna try it again.
