Socchan in costume!

Whee, I finished my costume! At last! Except for a few fiddly little details (like cinching the pants at the bottom, and the wrist wraps), but the majority is done, and that's what's regonizable.
Here we have some pictures of me in my "completed" costume :3
Full body (or as full body as Mom could manage on the camera):

Profile (with glasses):

The one pic of the set with me in my specs :O My hair isn't technically long enough to form proper loopies, but it does the trick.
From the front:

Closeup on the shoes:

One and a half hours to make those, man. And I keep feeling like they'll break :( I need a way to reinforce 'em.
My overall conclusion: the costume looks great, but I could stand to lose a few pounds ^^a Or kilos even. *deep abiding shame* On the plus side, I seem to have 'finished' a costume for AI well in advance for once. Though I do plan to make the 'rest' of it, plus a prop, before August. Note to self: find out where you can find a nice blue watery-looking scarf. Translucent = good.
As for the costume itself, the sleeves are a little big, and I could stand to move a few clasps a little ways, but those are about my only complaints.
If anyone out there wants details on the making of any of thisor to pay me five bucks plus shipping for their very own Katara hand-me-down/heirloom necklace (just kidding... I think), go ahead and ask; I'll be happy to share (read: talk your eyes off).
Only presided over one group taking books so far tonight, but was recognized by all of them, which made me feel completely validated ^____^ And also reinforced the idea that most college students are kid!uncool. Though one person in my art class did recognize my (then un'finished') costume after prompting. Which gets him points.
Skipping the Adventures in Political Activism entry again for now, possibly indefinitley. (I really have no idea how to spell that last word :D;;;) Unless somebody actually wants to hear (in detail) how I sat outside in the cold for two hours, holding a sign and generally encouraging people to vote early. And then being told off by republicans.
Also, this remains my only 'dressing up' icon for the moment.

Date: 2006-11-02 12:55 am (UTC)Thanks ^_^ I'm really proud of it. I personally wanna try for grownup!Toph also (since there's no way in heck I'll be able to pull off correct!age!Toph), though figuring out how she gets her hair like that will kill me. Unless it changes nicely in the next season or something. Also Momo :3
Anyway, sounds like a fun combination for you ^__^ Going for the Kickass Girl Character theme? ;)
