And lo, it was decided, RedTie!Mokonan would be used!
Also, I'm thinking of offering holiday cards to everyone this year. Last year, I sent out I think three to different people. (You can see the card from last year here; it's CFUD-themed, but then, I was really only sending it to CFUD fans or players last year, so.) I've seen two card notices up this year already, and while I don't usually like to even plan for winter holiday themed stuff until after my birthday (the end of November), being in the Quire and having to reherse for the holiday concert has seriously warped my sense of time and holiday. I still feel mildly guilty about it ^^a
Anyway, my working idea at the moment is Zombie holidays! Which has the potential of being really offensive or really funny, possibly both. Of course, with my limited experience, about all I can think of at the moment is a zombie decorated like a Christmas tree, and a manorah (and I can just tell I spelled that wrong) with zombie fingers instead of candles. I... can't really think of anything for Solstace (aside from lighting a zombie on fire or something), but that may be largely because Christmas is just a pagan holiday with a coat of Christian paint. See: Christmas trees for an example. Nothing at all to do with Jesus. Presents? Maybe. Decorated trees? No. (Nor do colored eggs, for that matter, but that's a different holiday.) The message inside would be something like this: Hope your holiday's not rottin'!
Other ideas I flirted with briefly were something with Eggnog (Ash-product, but that would probably have to be a CFUD-only version), and something with mistletoe (sprig on the front with the words "Oh Shi--", and then GIANT KISSMARK on the inside + holiday message). Still pondering those if I don't pull off the zombie version, or as alternate ideas (in case I need to make two versions - CFUD-only and non-CFUD).
In non-card related news, if you haven't heard, LJ is offering paid time refunds for if you got caught up in the recent blackout. If you had a paid account during the 2006 blackout, you can get extra paid time here. Oh, and I've picked up the list of kisses I said I'd draw again. Sokka/Suki is 90% done (give or take), as is Doumeki/Watanuki. Don't know what I'll get started on next.
Also, the latest Two Lumps comic is made of awesome and win.

Date: 2006-11-14 03:50 am (UTC)Believe it or not, the tree does have something to do with Christmas. It's a pagan symbol adapted to celebrate the birth of grace that came in the dead of winter, like an evergreen in the midst of bare branches. Candles, which later became electric lights for safety, also come from this concept. Bit of trivia. ^^

Date: 2006-11-14 03:56 am (UTC)Okay, you've got me there. I'm still of the opinion that it's a thin coat of Christian paint, though. ...Part of this is probably because my most recent history teacher said that it didn't become popular in England and so forth until a certain queen came into power and insisted on it - and as royalty goes, so go commoners.
Thanks ^___^ I can only blame CLAMP.
