Brick walls and character bags
Nov. 14th, 2006 07:32 pmNot-so-good day today, but it's getting better. Had far too much homework last night, but it turns out that I can do some of it today and tomorrow and still be relatively in the clear (I hope). Ran head-first into the brick wall of "trying to explain things to people and them not getting it today" - Jeva, I know how you feel now. For the record: if I am sad, what I need is a distraction, not to talk about it. Talking about it generally makes me feel worse. When I'm under control, then I will think about it. This is good, because when I've calmed down, I generally have a better ability to think about things thoroughly and such. Also, my way is not always the right way, but sometimes (most of the time, really) it's the only way I've got, and it's a way that works, so I go with it.
Anyway, setting the emo-tastic stuff → aside, where they can stew with holiday card plans for a little while, I'mma move on to something more fun for me ^___^
See, Mom makes these nifty little bags. (They're inspired by omiyage, or at least the crafts in a book of that title, so that's what Mom thinks of them as. I suppose it's a good a name as any.) They're about the right size to carry make-up, or a cell phone, or a PDA, or just about anything small that you want handy. (Mom uses hers for "female supplies" (and that is a quote).) One day, I was looking at them, and I thought that it would be really cool to make similar bags fashioned after anime characters and such. And I thought about this for a long while, and didn't really do much about it besides think, until Sunday when Joan came to visit. (We had a blast, BTW ♥) I brought it up with her while she was there, and she thought it was a great idea ^__^ We got started thinking about what characters I'd like to make bags of, and came up with a huge list.
Mom overheard, also thought it was a great idea, and went so far as to suggest that I sell them at whichever convention I go to next in an attempt to make back some of the money I'd be spending. And while I love the idea, I'm not entirely sure how I'd go about doing it. I suppose I'd have to get a table at Artist's Alley or something :/ And that probably means missing most of the convention. The other option is to put some up for auction in the fan art area at Anime Iowa, but room for 3D stuff is limited. So, thinking about it. Also have to get around to trying to make them -
nekokenchan,
mistressoffoxes, either of you mind being recipients of test versions? I thought I could maybe try for one for each of you for [Winter Holiday of Choice].
Anyway, we'll have to see how that goes. I'll probably put up pictures if/when I get some done. With any luck, I'll also be able to make most of 'em reversable ♥♥♥
Edit: *glances around for journals to spam while she waits for stuff to upload already*
Also, I'm using this icon ("this icon" being the Mokonan icon) so much, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just make it my default now. I mean, it would be the first time I changed my default since I made a default, which has its own pros and cons, so.
Edit 2: Aaaargh! *flails and pulls hair out* Must... Not... Spam... Own... Journal!

Date: 2006-11-16 12:48 am (UTC)I wouldn't think so, but it would probably be good to mention that you'd be getting the corresponding character ;) ...I'm also currently thinking about making mini character heads to stick in your bags as well (again, corresponding characters) so they don't get "lonely", but I don't know if that'll pan out, so. *shrug* I guess we could ask?no subject
Date: 2006-11-16 05:52 am (UTC)Asking would be a good idea. I can do that when I talk to her today, if that would be good enough :Dno subject

Date: 2006-11-16 01:35 am (UTC)If I found you at a convention, I'd totally sell one to you :D
It would be followed by lingering guilt over selling something to a friend-ish-type-person, but that would probably be overwhelmed by selfishness in the end ^^a Er. Special friends-list discount?
