That holiday meme thing from all over

soc_puppetOkay, let's face it; I just love this meme.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 mumblemumble holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your f-list (or friend’s friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Things that probably take more time than money:
1) Zips of the Detective Conan manga. Because I suck at getting around to reading it when it's just online, and my German skills are sub-par at best. As in, I haven't had a class in it since fourth grade. So. Such a thing would be awesome beyond belief, and as long as I'm sans internet connection, I thought it would be a nice goal for myself: read all of the DC chapters I never got to when I did have a connection :D;;; 'Cuz let's face it, if I even read a quarter of the manga by now, then math must not be the same anymore.
2) Fic or art! Just about any of my listed fandoms are good, really, though I'm currently on a bit of an Avatar kick. If you want me to be even more specific, I'm mostly a Katara/Aang shipper, with a side order of Jet/Zuko. Writing-wise, I'll give just about anything a shot, so long as it's technically decent, relatively IC, and somewhat justified. Crack pairings and yuri more than welcome. Gen also has the potential for goodness and hilariousity. Art-wise, uh. I don't really look at a lot of art, so I don't have many standards there? I guess, if it's an anti-ship for me, make it really vague or something? (And I do have one or two anti-ships, so.) I mean, not like I'm going to turn it down if it's for me, but if you're looking for something I'll want and love, not just like, that might be the way to go. Er. Also, art for any of my fics is incredibly flattering and stuff. Or, depending on what art you've seen, vice-versa. Yeah. Oh, and past!fic or art = fantastic and loved.
3) ...If people did either of the above for Tentacular? Either with my characters or with their own? It would just kinda bowl me over. And then I would bowl you over. With love ♥♥♥ Ditto if it's a crack theory that I've been tossing around.
4) Muzak! I currently have an A Capella addiction that needs feeding (bonus points if you can find full tracks of anything that's been on Scrubs, full-out love if you can find one of the Underdog theme), but am also very fond of Ted Leo and the Pharmacists and Emily Autumn and need more of their stuff.
Things that probably take more money than time:
5) Yeah, see this stuff here? Any of the ALC stuff would be truly ♥-worthy. Apparel also. Duplicates not a problem!
6) Any of the following books:
Rats! A Fun and Care Book by Debbie Ducommun (Bowtie Press)
Rat Health Care by Debbie Ducommun (self-published, cheap)
Training Your Pet Rat by Bucsis and Barbara Somerville (Barron's)
Again, duplicates not a problem. In fact, for the second book, they're pretty much reccomended.
7) LJ gift certificates! ...Okay, this is sorta roundabout. I know I already have a permanant account. These are only indirectly for me, though. A lot of times, I want to be able to help people renew accounts or userpics immediately, and with only a checkbook and/or cash at my usual disposal, that's not much of an option. Gift certificates, on the other hand, would allow me to pass them on at the drop of an expiration notice. So yes, these would make me happy.
Things you might have to be a master manipulator or rather well off to arrange:
8) A job. Would be kinda nice. (Money to spend on self! On friends! On school! Et cetera!) ((I'm also possibly in the process of getting, but hey, picking and choosing = also good.))
9) A laptop with wireless capabilities would also be rather fantastic. So I could stop relying completely on the Kirkwood computer lab or the Library.
10) The return of my internet connection would be neat. Even for just a month or two. Even if it's just dial-up. It would still be cool.
Anyway, there it is. I'll probably be putting up a locked post with my addy either later today or sometime tomorrow. I also hope to get to those reviews I mentioned sometime soon. Provided homework coaching immediately followed by yoga doesn't kill me. (Wrrrryyyyy, Mom? DDD: )
I'll also be collecting other people's posts with this meme somewhere (probably a screened comment) for the sake of keeping track of them, so if you feel like commenting with a link and making the task easier, I wouldn't complain ♥
