Weekend activities
Dec. 12th, 2006 07:54 pmSo. Finals week. How 'bout it.
Actually, I don't mind finals week too much. Probably because a) I'm good at tests, b) no, I mean really good at tests, c) seriously, is there a job where I can just take tests and get paid for it? 'Cuz that would be awesome, and d) other than tests (which I'm good at, in case I forgot to mention), there's no classes. I have, essentially, nothing else to do. Which means I can do (mostly) whatever I want! ♥
This resulted in me sleeping in 'til noon yesterday, then alternating bad anime (Kannadzuki no Miko is similar, in some ways, to a train wreck) with doing my laundary and attempting to alter a former iguana cage to be rat-friendly. (The plexiglass is still somewhat baffling to me, but it's the only idea Mom and I came up with at the time, as wood =/= good for this sort of thing. Also, I need to learn to use an electronic drill.) Finished up by making dinner for the family (bonus points for having it mostly finished by the time Mom and Dad got home), and then a trip to the gym that Mom bullied us into joining. Spent about forty minutes on a treadmill, watching the tail end of Scrubs and half an episode of Spongebob.
The weekend was fun, too. The Quire holiday concert was on Saturday night, and, in the manner of most concerts I can remember, went spectacularly. We got up on stage and started singing and things just seemed to fall together. I've thought for a number of years now that an audience also brings something to a performance, and this really only reinforced the idea for me. The songs were awesome, and well-liked, and you'd better believe that as soon as I get my copies of the performance CD? I will be subjecting you to at least one.
Sunday was the Quire after-the-concert potluck party, which was enjoyable, since we got to hear the concert CD while we were there, and the company was awesome, et cetera. I ended up playing Automatic Cat Skritcher for at least the last half of it :D;;; The cat in question, Phoebe, has an auto-immune reaction to the bacteria that grow on her teeth :( Her owner gave her some steroid thing every other day to help combat it, but even that wasn't perfect. Apparently the reccomended treatment is removal of all of the kitty's teeth - which, since she's getting on in years, the owner is starting to consider. But is still sad-making, alas. The point of my telling you all of that is, I couldn't tell if the kitty drool was from bliss-inducing skritching technique, or just drool. I guess I'll never know. Though I did find out what one Mom's early childhood nicknames for me was. Anyway, my left hand ended up smelling rather strongly of cat, and there was a considerable deposit of fur on the corresponding pants thigh ^^a
Long story short, Quire rehersals are over for the year, so my Sunday nights are free again until January 14 :) In-town people, we are always looking for new members! No previous vocal experience neccessary! No need to actually be able to read music! Get a chance to meet the son of the indescribable Mrs. Dane! There are psuedo-scholarships available if you don't have a lot of money! Et cetera! [/end bad attempt at getting friends to sing with her]
Oh yeah, and my room is now clean. As in, no floating papers on the floor anymore. The books are, for the most part, on the shelves. I can actually see carpet! Go me! *celebratory dance*
Pencils on my holiday card are mostly-almost done. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the whole darn thing up by sometime this weekend. And also go shopping for gifts for family and friends. And/or cloth with which to make gifts for family/friends. And make evil plots to visit Candy. (First item on the list: find a map!)
Last thing: Jeva, I want you to know that I think it's really awesome how you can always seem to talk about anything. Things that bother you, things that make you happy, the reasons behind this, everything. I don't have the courage to do that yet myself, and I think it's really cool that you do. Thought you should know that.
