Another Possibly Stupid Idea

Anyway! If I were to start a community for scans of (books for) Early Readers in various languages, would anyone be interested? I mention this because I remember that I'm a very big reader myself, and thought that I might be able to pick up on learning languages better if I had stories to keep me interested/help me see how words fit together/get context from and stuff. (Am I making sense?) Books that were scanned could be for various reading levels, starting from the very basic and going up through mid- or late-elementary. If so motivated, people could also try creating their own early reader books, and putting them up for the purpose of learning. Due to copyright issues and so forth, it would probably have to be a locked community, but I think it might be interesting/helpful.

Yeah, so, any interest in that out there, or is this one of those things that I should probably ignore for a few years/all together?

Hmmm. That might be interesting. I'd probably benefit from reading some books in Spanish. And other languages, of course.

I like the idea; and I have a couple of grade-school level books in Japanese that I can scan and contribute, if you'd like. One's a very, very basic 'this is the word in Japanese, this is the word in English' with pictures, and the other one's this very nifty book of illustrated folktales. They're in largish-sized hiragana and pretty readable; I'd say that the second book is probably 1st-or-second-grade reading material for your average student. Sound like what you're looking for?

Oooh! Go for it go for it! I have a fifth-grade level Japanese reader I should work my way through, but I don't have easy access to a scanner.... but I've been looking off and on for stuff like that for ages.
