His or her need to help others and reduce their suffering may take precedence over all else. Neutral good [people] do good for goodness' sake, not because they are directed to by law or by whim.

Well, I don't know that I agree with all of it (for example, I'd definitely use poison or attack an unarmed enemy in the right situations), and I'm not quite sure I like all of the characters I ended up associated with, but I don't know that I could complain other than that. The need to reduce pain and suffering taking precedence over other things especially applies. Am I really aloof and difficult to understand, though? o.o
Aaand, nabbed from
I don't know that I've got a lot of personal psuedocanon for stuff not DC/MK, but I"ll definitely try.

Date: 2007-05-17 07:39 pm (UTC)Now, meme-wise...
1) Ai probably memorized the table of the elements not too long after she first learned to read. This was mostly because she was bored and had little else to do.
2) She is a scientist, and identifies as such, but not to the extent of forsaking all religious practices. There's a sort of duality there; she doesn't count on outside forces when in the lab, because she feels that she's more likely to get what she wants under her own power, but outside the lab she figures it can't hurt. So yeah, she does do the usual "visiting shrines at New Year's" stuff and all that, though mostly as an "insurance" measure. Agnosticism is what I'm getting at here, I think.
3) A lot of her work on a cure is about redemption. She's working so she can, in her mind at least, make up for some of what she's done. At the same time, there is a genuine interest in the process, in what she's doing, in all the potential scientific applications of the drug(s). This is something that challenges her, and the scientist in her relishes it.
4) She does genuinely like Shin'ichi, and is attracted to him (er, the grown-up him, that is (not a pedo, kthx)), but Ran got there first. She has, as it were, dibs. If, however, she doesn't accept him after this whole Conan thing, or things don't work out between the two of them, Ai will be more than happy to pick up the pieces.
4.5) There's also probably some attraction to Ran on Ai's part, but it's mostly subconscious. If she ever became aware of it, she wouldn't be likely to do anything about it; Ran already has Shin'ichi, and likely hasn't thought about it besides. She wouldn't say no if Ran approached her, though.
And that's all I can think of at the moment ^^a

Date: 2007-05-17 08:20 pm (UTC)2)...Hum...I tend to agree, I picture her more like an agnostic that an atheist.
In one of my fic, she's even trying to picture her life in a budhist perspective(after all, Ai is, in a way, Shiho's reincarnation, her pain and her fear are the price for the sins she had commited in her ancient life, she share the same fate than the one she ahd inflicted to Kudo...).
And it reminds me that I should finish this fic when she's trying to believing in afterlife to deals with Akemi's death.
3)WORD
4)WORD too
5)WORD again XD
And now, I will take this meme.XD
