soc_puppet | Con Report Thing (part two)

Continued from Part One.

Saturday (Second Half):
Now, where was I? Oh yeah, lunch!

Had a snack/lunch in the room with Thalia and Pat and Chris; saw some pretty nifty cosplays and props from our tenth story window. Left at a little after twelve to browse around the costumes downstairs, because staying in the room seemed less interesting. Caught a couple of photoshoots, including one for Sailor Moon with pretty much every scout (sans StarLights) that had a pretty decent looking crossplay going on. Wandered around some more, picked up another person, and then I split off because it was getting close to 1:00, AKA Meeting Time :Db

Spent a couple of minutes by the Big Ugly Statue wondering where people were, 'cuz I'd missed the sign. Eventually found them in front of the statue, why did I not think to look there first. Audience Married all of them on the spot :Db (Can you tell I had been planning such a thing for almost a year?) Also got everyone to sign my CFUD: Acen '07 Tour shirt, with two scribbles to boot ♥ (Note to self: take picture of shirt.) Didn't end up taking really any pictures of the group to speak of, on the basis that my camera is a whore and eats batteries and is thus hard to deal with, and also that other people would be taking and posting pictures and I could steal those. Which, so far, I have :Db

After everyone had gathered, the decision was made that we were going to McDonald's to eat lunch. We walked over there and chatted as we walked, and bought food and ate outside. I had a shake and some fries :3b Other people had larger, more meal-like meals. One of these was a happy meal, in which was found a toy Shrek whose face was instantly compared to The Face. Pictures were taken, food was eaten, talk was made, and we walked back. (I did not discover my sunburn until much later >_<)

Since we had nothing really better to do at the time, and were loath to split up just yet, the lot of us headed into the Dealer's Room to look over doujinshi. ...Or, at least, most of them looked over doujinshi; I didn't, as I was low on cash. Purchases were made, and we headed to the back of the room where more pictures were taken, more talk was had, and I ...kinda taught myself how to make origami genitalia. I still have it, but if you want pictures, you're going to have to join

campersfuckoff. Laughs were had by all.

Around five, two of our more charismatic speakers had to go to dinner, and so left the rest of us. We wandered into Artist's Alley for a little while, and then someone needed to go to the bathroom, and I wanted a drink besides, so we splintered again. After the bathroom break, it was discovered that the dealer's room closed at six, and so another of our group had to go and make her purchases before she had to leave the convention, and we were pretty much whittled down to three. We wandered back to the hotel for... reasons I can't remember at the moment, but that might have involved conspiracies to take CFUD-esque pictures. Our third member ducked out at I think eight-ish (I could be very wrong), and it was down to two.

Mind you, the fun very definitely did not stop there. We traveled into the room of a friend, where there was free food and an Aizen cosplayer. Somehow, we convinced him to pose as Not Evil for us :Db

He asked what the sign was about, and we kinda detailed CFUD for him at length. We may have addicted him (one can only hope).

Since he had nothing better to do, the two of us dragged him around as we looked for characters to shove in CFUD-esque situations. We managed to find a Gin, and secured these photos:

We also saw some other fantastic cosplays, including a Charlie the Unicorn (search for Candy Mountain or something) and a very good looking (technically female) Rabi. To my delight/amusement, we also saw an Itachi and Neji walking around together.

"With both of them being female, and the cat ears on the one hand and the bunny ears on the other, it's practically CFUD canon," I pointed out.

Somewhere in the middle of this, the three of us were coerced into a game of Morton's List, which turned out to be a very fun game indeed ♥ Somehow it was arranged for the other group members to write a short skit in which Katara, Juliette (from Romeo x Juliet) and Inui (of PoT) were to meet up. This quickly turned into something that sounded far more original, and got much longer than a simple skit. I have made plans to steal... er, that is, use the concepts and notes for an original comic sometime in the future :3b Still hoping to change a few more details, so I don't get my ass sued, but the concept is overall awesome, IMHO ♥ ...It involves time travel and assassination, how could it not be? (Also, I officially need to see Romeo x Juliette last week, and if there's someone out there who would be willing to upload any subbed episodes for me to a direct download site, I would love you forever ♥)

After the game of Morton's List, it was around ten o'clock, so I said I'd be turning in in about an hour. ...It still took me two, because I find it hard to leave things when I'm having fun, no matter how tired I may be. I managed to get into bed with the lights off by twelve-thirty. And that concludes Saturday.

Sunday:
Sunday was, as many previous "last day of the con"s, hectic. We dicked around the room, generally getting packed and stuff, until about ten o'clock, at which point we dragged our stuff to the car and checked out. We spent some more time checking out costumes and stuff, and then went for one last sweep of the Dealer's Room. Sadly, I found no easily seen Katamari Damacy stuff, nor could I find the boxes of Munchkin that I had seen earlier that weekend, thus negating my backup plans for souvenirs for Tomas. I did, however, find a copy of Mark of the Succubus for $8.00, completing my "currently in print" collection of it ♥ I also got a few more photos, which I am quite happy with.

A very awesome Halloweentown Sora cosplay. Managed to track the player down in the dealer's room and get a picture, 'cuz Pat said she was looking for 'em and I didn't know if she'd get a picture or not.

Ever seen the commentary on episodes 1x18-20 of Avatar? This totally made me think of that, 'cuz yeah, Water Tribe kids are the cutest. (Heard from the mini-Katara's guardian that an Aang was coming, but never got to see him. He would've been the first I saw all con.)

HIMAWARI-CHAN. Picture taken mostly so I could prove to myself later that I had not imagined her. Sadly, there were no Gaaras in range at the time I took the photo, or I might've willingly made a fool of myself. Still, halfway isn't bad?

Aaaand just about everything else after that gets frustrating or boring, so I'll be cutting it off there with a, "We all waved a sad good-bye to the convention, hoping to be back another day."

Also hopefully, I'll be able to get pictures of one of the CR Kirkwood Anime Club member's costumes, which I missed - he apparently dressed as the corn cob from Boku wa SekuHara (don't ask if you don't know and want your brain to remain intact), and I really wanted to see that. Ah, well.
