For those of you who were unaware, Iowa's had a restriction on marriage since it was made a state. And now it's gone. I think I need to celebrate. In many, many ways.


Oh, and on the fan side of GLBT-themed news, as posted on dc_yaoi, Detective Conan finally has on-screen canon gay. Which might not be quite as huge, in the grand scheme of things, or at least the immediate scheme of things, but considering that it's in a shounen manga and the characters involved are not actually completely bishounen/effeminate, I think it's a fairly significant step. I can only declare my everlasting love for whoever was behind getting that in the comic (and to whoever translates that chapter first).


Now if you'll excuse me, I believe I'll be dancing in the aisles. ...Of my mind.

Very all-around awesome ♥ The only non-awesome part of it that I can see so far is that it kinda vaguely clashes with how I've been playing Sonoko in CFUD thus far, but uh. H-hopefully I can muscle my way around that?

Checked with parental units! Dad only wants to go to the Union Picnic on Monday afternoon (noon to two, and he'll probably be there early), but I'm pretty sure I'm under no obligation to go. Other friends have no plans, but I am free to make my own and invite them, so! You at all interested in seeing a movie on Sunday or Monday?

YAY! That makes me happy in my heart! And I just moved. I barely know where the movie theatre in the area is D: Either day would work! My only plans for this weekend are the fic-dump for Lurker Day that's going up on Sunday. And also...I might ping you for an address again so I can Mapquest it =^^=

Well, it'll be No Points Mah Jong, which is way simpler than if we were playing for points, but yes, it's lots of fun :3b Morton's List is basically How To Waste Spend An Hour You Wouldn't Have Been Using Otherwise, and Mao is... a wonderful card game made of pure evil. Here, have a FMA fic by harukami to give you an idea of what it's like for people who don't have kind friends that will give them the basic game rundown. And who have a different interpretation of one of the rules. (NSFW, Roy/Ed.)

I haven't read any Conan manga for years, but right now I checked the scan on Knightus' website, and the next page says that the blond character in the couple is actually just a masculine-looking female bodybuilder. But it's not very common for female characters in manga to appear outside of traditional feminine roles, so maybe it's still notable in that sense...

That's what I'm hearing now, yeah :/ And I can definitely see some feminine characteristics (in Gosho's style) incorporated to the blond character. Still, I'm going to live in hope until I get the scanlated copy, which will likely confirm things. Though yes, that is pretty notable :3b
