soc_puppet: Dreamsheep as Lumpy Space Princess from Adventure Time (Sokka's Fangirl(s))

Right, so, first things first!

Re: Starcross:

The short version? It was tasty and I loved it. More subterfuge!

* Hurrah for time travel! And guessing games. And also giant man-eating clams and starfish :Db Basically, Mars in general!

* Ahahaha, Jack Havock under cover ♥

* "I present it here on the STRICT UNDERSTANDING that Mr Wyatt does NOT illustrate it with a picture of me in my night attire." O Myrtle. How were you to know Mr Wyatt's cunning plans? And, let's face it, with a lead-up like that, how could he not?

* "'Elementary, my dear colonel,' she said. 'When every sensible explanation has been disproved, then whatever remains, however silly, must be the truth. And the truth is that the British Empire stands on the brink of an invasion by highly intelligent hats from the future!'"

...Anyone else get Meet the Robinsons flashbacks there, or was it just me?

* Also, I find it somewhat difficult to take the enemy seriously whenever I think too hard about their name. Pfft, Moobs!

* I kinda liked the French chick! Except when she got all domineering, but even then I thought she was okay. Glad it ended, er, well for her, at any rate.

* Due to events that transpired earlier in the book, I can only assume that a future installment in the series may introduce a cure for at least the fast acting Changeling Tree pollen. One could go on to hope for more from this, but I'll try not to.

* Hurrah, they're consistent with the spelling of Ssilissa's name again! I mean, they did mostly use just one 'l' in the first book, but then about half-way through they switched and got terribly inconsistent with it. I've got all the places where it goes back marked, too.

* Romantic Drama! The suspense! Et cetera! Though on that note, I officially love Myrtle now. I mean, I was okay with her before, but as of her resolution at the end of the book? Wow. She has won my heart.

* Similarly, Mrs Mumby is a godmoder to the extreme. And just how would breeding spores to help Art learn math and Latin be cheating, huh?

* I also wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the inspiring ideospores made it back to ancient Mars and got to inspiring stuff around there, and that being why several things happened as they did. Just for the record.

* Oooo, Mr Grindle's unsavory past ♥_♥ I never would've guessed.

* "How to Write Love Letters: A Guide for the Perplexed, by A Lady". Pffft ahahahaha XD Oh Jack. Oh Jack.

Leaving it there and returning the book to the library likely tomorrow. Moving on to Avatar, as it occurs to me that I missed fangirling last Friday's episode :3b

Re: The Runaway:

Okay, this is what I love about Avatar. The fun and the antics and the awesome characterization and aldkfjsd. Yes. Few things I wanna address list-style, though!

* Finally, the reason Combustion Man was introduced as he was! I feel better about 3x05 now.

* ...Dude, Katara. What happened to stealing being okay when you steal from pirates, huh? I can only assume you were saying that to end the episode on a joke/get the last laugh from Sokka, since you seemed to have learned your lesson by this episode (mostly), but still.

* Also, I totally called the "I dun wanna be a drag DD:" motivation during the commercial break while trying to explain things to Mom. Win for me!

* ...Hawky whut. Sokka, you have got to have the second lamest naming sense I have ever heard.

* Sweatbending! It's like they took the idea from lame fanfics that I'm sure exist where Katara (or some other random waterbender) bend tears away from people's faces, and then they turned it around and made it hilarious and awesome! And also slightly disgusting, but mostly the first two.

And that's really all I've got for this episode. Looking forward to tomorrow muchly!

Also picked up my very own digital camera and the first volume of the season three DVDs yesterday. There was commentary on episodes 3x04 and 3x05, so of course I stayed up to watch them instead of going to sleep like any sane person would do.

Anyway, Re: 3x04 commentary:

Our two creators and, dun dun duh! Sifu Kisu! (I half hope I have his name wrong, because otherwise I will be hilaritized in all the wrong ways.) Sifu Kisu has a ttly significant reason for being there, by the way. It is because he is, in fact, the guy they based Master What's-his-face on! Commentary was everything I have come to love about the commentaries I love. Which means it was mostly geeking and loling and generally the two guys making fun of themselves. And also other hilarity and insights into the Avatar-verse and stuffs.

As soon as I found out it was him, of course, I recognized Sifu Kisu in M Whf. And he looks gooood animated.

Also, a good deal of the Fire Nation scenery was based on Iceland's scenery :O The waterfall Sokka's supposed to draw? Ttly a real (and famous) waterfall in Iceland.

Oh, and the Nickelodeon logo bending by Toph was a total plant ;)

Re: 3x05 commentary:

This was somewhat less of what I loved :/ For starters, it only had Mike commenting of the two creators; I always like the ones where there's only one of them slightly less. The other two commentators were the episode's writer and director.

It was... less of what I hoped it would be. I hoped it would end up making me like the episode better, but really, it kinda didn't. Episode 3x07 did more for me than the commentary did. I just... I dunno, I felt like it could've been a lot more balanced emotionally and stuff. Needs moar character-y foreshadowing, guys! And yeah. I liked it better than I did the first time, but I still didn't care for it all that much.

I'm also wondering what they're doing with Azula's characterization - not in a "WTF are they on" kind of way, more in a curious way. Now that they're trying to give her more, uh, depth, it makes me wonder about previous Azula. Wanna find out more.

Random Zuko tangent! Just something I think I've managed to put together right, if I'm interpreting things correctly.

Season One: Zuko tries to get what he wants, and fails.
Season Two: Zuko tries to give up on what he wants, and gains it.
Season Three: Zuko has what he wants, but it's not really what he thought it would be.

This next part really just goes "Blah blah blah blah maybe I'm starting to kinda like Zuko now blah blah". He's growing on me. He's growing slowly, but he is growing. I'd probably like him better if he was less angry all the time, but then he probably wouldn't be Zuko. Hopefully he'll find a good place to be by the end of the series.

End musings on spoileriffic stuff :O

Closing with a quick reminder to plz vote for my friend [livejournal.com profile] ytak's picture so LJ will give her $100 at Amazon, and also to consider signing up for cards. (I am being completely stupid and reading the LJ names of everyone who voted for Ytak's picture, by the way.)

Oh wait! Also wanted to say that congestion, post-nasal drips and anything that makes me wonder if I have allergies to flowery-scented cleaning stuff is bad and evil D: Like breathing. And that is it for this post.

Edit: I can only wonder how much trouble it would be for LJ to recode the "view answers" thing so it showed who voted next to/under what instead of the other way 'round. Or at least making it an option. 'Cuz it's gotta be costing them bandwidth every time I click "view answers" in their photo contest poll.
