Dear Brain,

No, I don't care how many copies of The Da Vinci Code are in the library's discard section, we are -not- going to take one home for the sole purpose of destroying it. For one thing, it goes against most of our morals. For another, we already have a math textbook to destroy for when we feel particularly testy. Got it?

Wow. I, uh. I'm really failing at my initial LJ resolution to update at least every three days just now. I should. Probably try to fail less and win more, huh.

Study buddies tonight seems to have been mysteriously canceled. I can only assume that Something is Up and that I am not being avoided for No Good Reason. Because, well. I like to trust in people like that. Also, I suck at carrying my cell phone. Anyway, gave my buddy fifteen minutes past the appointed time before deciding that it probably wasn't going to happen tonight and abandoning my post in the ...vestibule? Foyer? Whatever it was.

...Ended up not actually doing any studying, which I blame on myself, and also checking out a Teach Yourself Czech book, which I blame 100% on the Sci-Fi channel. Trust in television to get me acutely interested in approximately one quarter of my heritage! Now I just need a reason to get interested in the Huguenots and find out what the rest of my mixed heritage is so I can find a reason to get interested in that, and I'll be set :3b (For the record, Irish is covered.)

I know, I know, but if I stopped to burn that, I'd have to burn every book I thought was sub-par, and I just don't have enough time to do that. Maybe if I just stuck to the wildly popular books that I thought weren't worth the paper they were printed on...

Never got more than thirty pages into any one of the first author's books, have yet to touch the second author's. Which means I can't form much of a well-rounded opinion on either, sadly.

I haven't read the book but I believe you. Just one copy? It'll be liberating. Or you could rip the pages out and use them in paper-mache. That'd turn something that's not good to something useful.

I read it and felt cheated. I want my time back! XD Well, the library does have a fund-raiser designed around taking discarded books and making them into fun things, but I still don't know that I'd want to use inferior building materials.

...You know, based on that, I was this close to using one of them as litter for the rat cage. And then I remembered the Kiki Shrugged phenomenon, and it gave me second thoughts. Maybe I should risk it anyway...

Edit: After a quick search, both copies seem to have been appropriated by the ignorant masses. For the time being, I am resigning myself to a better search later, in the hope of cheap rat litter, but I did manage to save two gems from the rubble while I was looking, so huzzah!
