Crochitten, music request, and griping

So a while back, the lovely (I assume) and talented (definitely)
ysabet left a link to a knitted kitten pattern in a journal entry. Months later, I finally decided to try adapting it to crochet.
Here are the results:

While I didn't think it turned out that well at the time, looking at the photos I think it's actually cuter than I gave it credit for. I may see my way towards making a crochet pattern for it, since there doesn't seem to be one linked there. I should probably look over a few crochet patterns myself first, though; need to know what to actually call those stitches -_-a
If you remember the giant mp3 player I got for my birthday? I've been playing it on my bus to positive response, and am now looking for more kid appropriate music to play on it. The kids on my bus are all special needs elementary students. So far, D*sney songs have been a hit, but I don't actually have many that are in English, so more would be great. Also good would be probably any opening songs for cartoons you can think of, but bonus points if someone has the SpongeBob theme. Anything else you can think of that kids of that age bracket might enjoy would be A++ But with a slight caveat that the songs can't have swearing or mention killing. (That was the song policy at my toy store job, so I assume it's the minimum for a bus of elementary students.) Thanks in advance ♥
A new Librarian movie was on yesterday night, which I thought about watching, but didn't in the end; I suppose I can blame lingering disappointment over the second movie's lack of Nicole Noone, and the introduction of a new romantic interest with no explanation as to what had happened to the previous one. It appears our main character got another new romantic interest in the most recent movie, which. Has to do with vampires. I'm honestly not sure what to feel about that, aside from gleeful cackles about how the new testament is really just a story about the undead and how they just want to be loved and treated with respect. I just asked my roommate, who did watch it, and he said there was some attempt at explanation for the Mysteriously Vanishing Girlfriends, but I found it unsatisfactory at best: apparently, they dump him because he's spending more time on the job than with them. I mean, what? How were either of the previous girlfriends (Nicole especially) not out there with him on every mission, huh? Laaaaame! DO BETTER, WRITERS. While some explanation is better than no explanation, this still stinks suspiciously of Beauty And The Geek Syndrome to me.
In completely different news, I am also entirely too enamored of this video. And the entire internet has probably seen it already without me, s-sob.

Date: 2008-12-09 01:38 am (UTC)The Real Tuesday Weld has some songs that might be good. Specifically, Bathtime in Clerkenwell (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggdkvvaoKH4). The Holloways have one song (Generator (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeyQ9mxscNQ)) that might work. Maybe something by Vampire Weekend -- they're a pretty upbeat band in general and I think they don't swear in most of their songs. A-Punk, Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, Bryn.... Manu Chao's Bongo Bong maybe. They Might Be Giants did a few kids' albums, including No!, which should be pretty good. Alarm Clock (and maybe Flower Tattoo) by the W's. I'd say The Cat Empire's Protons, Neutrons, Electrons but it has one line that goes 'And I've cut and bruised and torn' but it's a very kid-friendly, upbeat song, really. Maybe Steel Train's Firecracker? --Oh right, there's REM and Sesame Street's Furry Happy Monsters, and Feist did a song for them too (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ9WiuJPnNA) that would be good. And the Muppets cover of Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKcY_DNF8aY). And basically anything else by Sesame Street/The Muppets.
If you want uploads, I have everything but the TMBG album No!, Feist's Sesame Street song, and Fifty Ways.

You have any particular favorites? Also, I cannot believe I went and forgot about Muppets songs. Shame on me!

Date: 2008-12-09 03:01 am (UTC)Uhhhh. Those are all favourites....? But you might want to start with TMBG, No! was specifically intended for kids. Also Alarm Clock and Generator because they're quick/upbeat and have simple, repetitive lyrics. Bathtime in Clerkenwell doesn't have any actual lyrics but should be good for a laugh? :C idk.

Date: 2008-12-09 03:32 am (UTC)Anastasia
Cats Don't Dance
Winnie the Pooh (tech. disney, but...)
A random song I found from Hey Arnold
March of the Penguins, the original soundtrack (so, Frenchy)
What's Cooking? (fun songs about cooking for kids from Ratatouille)
Scooby Doo
Pucca
Billy and Mandy
Um. I also have music from the Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Seussical musicals. I particularly rec Seussical... Oh, and I have that song from Totoro, but only in JP.

Date: 2008-12-09 03:52 am (UTC)Oooo, I'll take Anastasia, Cats Don't Dance, the Hey Arnold song, What's Cooking?, Scooby Doo, and Billy and Mandy, if I may ^___^
Finding Nemo and Seussical music would be great, thank you! *hearts on*
Well, technically they're mostly first and second graders, with one sixth grader thrown in the mix, but just the other day said sixth grader was expressing his love of Teletubbies, so... Special needs children are special ._.b A-also, if you have music from The Backyardigans and/or Lazy Town, I will personally love you forever. *has a fondness for cartoons with original music numbers in every episode - see also Phineas and Ferb, Mighty Mouse*
