Mary-Sue went up for auction today. I'm a little disappointed that the altered books were only open to viewing (and bidding) for two hours, but I guess I can understand it. Anyway, I hope she sold, and sold well to boot. And that lots of other projects sold. And stuff. Go, go library?

In other news, I saw the new Night at the Museum movie tonight! It was full of win and awesome. And, well, I'm sure lots of inaccuracies, besides the obvious chronological hilarity, but. That's not what I went to see it for.

Anyway, I now need to write Jed/Octavius fic at some point in the near future. The -very- near future, hopefully. And probably a missing scene from the movie itself where Sacajawea and Amelia Erhart are actually seen speaking to one another about something other than a man. I don't know about anyone else who's seen the movie, but I was mighty disappointed that I did not actually get to see them interact on the big screen. Worse, they were only shown in the same frame for all of maybe two seconds, but still!

I was also somewhat disappointed by the mild case of Disposable Love Interest Syndrome that the movie displayed (as with so many sequels), but consoled myself with the fact that I'm pretty sure Larry and that-one-Sacajawea-scholar-lady weren't actually going out by the end of the first movie, so. Very mild case, if any. (DLIS still gets my goat, though.)

Oh, and our previous (hot) Pharaoh's older brother was kinda over-stereotyped, IMO. Kinda way over-stereotyped. But that's a different rant entirely, and those are pretty much my only character-based complaints (off the top of my head).

All in all, I was really quite pleased with the movie. There was a reasonable setup for the plot, and it was carried out nicely. I also loved what they did with the paintings and the like. There were some loose ends I'd love to see tied up, but I guess that's what fanfic is for, right? With how well they did with this, I would definitely not say 'no' to a third movie. And if you liked the first one and haven't seen this one yet, I'd recommend going.
