Forgot some of these the last time I did a pic dump. Oops! Let's get this taken care of...

Bank-style Piggy:

I've made one like this before, but it's been quite a while and I didn't write down the pattern that time. This time I did! It was a commission for the across-the-backyard neighbor for Xmas.

Mascot Bird:

The other half of the Xmas present commission for the across-the-backyard neighbor. It's the bird mascot of the local university.

Making something stylized in this way was interesting for me. I had to figure out the specific look I wanted to go with, since the mascot's had a lot of art done of him over the years and not all of it is the same. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I'm planning to make the pattern available for sale, and, when I get a free moment or ten, maybe make a Stephen Colbert bird with the same pattern. I just need to decide what's going to be red, what's going to be white, and what's going to be blue, and I'll be set to go ;)

Team Sleuth:

I've made Problem Sleuth before, but he didn't look near as slick as the new one. For one thing, his hat was a lot less shapely; for another, he didn't have the trench coat/jacket lines going. Ace Dick and Pickle Inspector weren't too much different from Sleuth's pattern, though the Inspector's hat took some time and thinking. I also ended up using noses for Ace Dick's eyes, since they're not round in the comic; I think it turned out well.

I made these three for my brother for Xmas, since he was getting a lot of mileage out of that first Sleuth in Plush Sleuth. He ended up finishing out either the act or the adventure with the new team present and accounted for.

Nurse Redheart:

Nurse Redheart here has been on the verge of being finished for ages, but I didn't get around to adding her hat, smile, and cutie marks until Dad knocked at my door the day before his goddaughter's/my cousin's birthday and asking if I had anything ready to go for a girl her age level. Redheart wasn't quite there, but she was close enough, so I pulled the rest together within a couple of hours (extra time for paint drying).

Her pattern is a very scaled down version of my much used larger MLP pattern. I'm planning to make a single crochet version of it before posting it, but who knows how long that'll take. I really am not fond of using single crochet for anything larger than a mini-Squiddle.

Charity dog:

My [livejournal.com profile] help_mindanao requested a plush version of her actual dog, which I was happy to provide. She's got this cute little rosette of hair on her neck where the color transitions, which I hope I replicated adequately.

Anyway, I also learned a valuable lesson while making her: If an animal's body is half one color and half another, divided lengthwise, don't bother crocheting in the round; it'll invariably lead to headaches.

Consolation Dragon:

AKA Patchwork Dragon. This is the dragon I made to take pictures of to go with the pattern, since I'm planning to sell it. Transcribing the pattern is almost done, as is shuffling around the pictures to go with it. I'm rather fond of the riot of Pinkie Pie colors; I would have liked to use a more contrasting yarn for the sewing parts than pastel green, but by the time I realized that gray would've worked admirably the head was already done, and like hell was I going to take apart those finished parts only to re-stitch them, and even if I sewed the gray over the green some'd show through and I couldn't just cut it out because some'd get stuck, and and and.... Anyway, I stuck to green, which looks more cheerful, even if it can be a little more difficult to pick out visually.

Anyway, that's all for now. Coming soon: More sparkle!dragons, and Sephiroth-pony.
