soc_puppet: You found kitten! (Robot, heart, kitten) Way to go, robot! (You found kitten! Way to go robot!)
From: [personal profile] soc_puppet
So far I'm getting a teensy bit stuck over turning it off and on vs. the ease of opening and shutting a paper book (my brain tells me they're equivalent ideas and also points out that leaving this book "open" wastes the battery, but holding the power button for seven seconds is not the equivalent time investment to shutting a book), and I had a fair bit of trouble starting it up (the screen was frozen on "Out of batteries!" and the first five sites I tried didn't actually list where the power button was, nor is it actually marked with, like, a word or that little circle-and-line dealie), but so far those are my only legitimate complaints.

I'm really liking that it's a book I can actually read with only one hand (without straining it from holding the pages open or having difficulty turning said pages), as well as the fact that I can now take epic long fanfics with me EVERYWHERE. Getting actual books on there may take me a while (I have a few, but they're all PDF because I have very little money - BTW, what's the file extension that I want for Kindle, anyhow?), but I am looking forward to it. I anticipate finding great joy in it over its time with me.

OH! I will mention that whoever had it before/the staff at HPB didn't bother to delete (all?) the books that were already on it, though they're not all books that I would actually (re-)read. I've been deliberately avoiding The Hunger Games, I'm not sure how I feel about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory now that I know the Oompa Loompas were originally supposed to be African pygmies, and I don't usually go in for non-fiction, whether or not it's about pirates, but The Wizard of Oz I might give another go-through. And then add the rest of the series, just so I can have read all of them. Because yes.
