And in Gay Pride Month, too
Jun. 12th, 2009 10:19 pmHey. Mister President? This? Not on.
On a purely physical level, I understand that right wing extremeists are getting more extreme, not less. And I understand that making civil rights more balanced and fair for marginalized groups is probably only going to push the ones who are already close even closer. (Not that I want that to happen, or support it in any way; I find it a deeply unfortunate reality.) I understand that, as compared, the left is much less violent when angry.
I understand the want, the need, to get as much done as possible in the time available, and the related want/need to extend that time as much as possible.
That doesn't mean I'm happy about it. That doesn't mean I feel any less betrayed.
It only means that - if that is your reason for doing what you are doing - I understand.
I'm tempted to go for the "I'm moving to Canada D:" meme again, but. It's not like Canadians don't have their own issues. I mean, I like the health care stuff, but aside from that? Where I am now is probably about as close to my ideal place to be as I'm gonna get.
And I hate that.
Edit: In morepositive expected rage-inducing news, apparently women don't go to movies. So I guess I won't be going to see My Life In Ruins. And definitely not multiple times, even if it's fantastic. (Translation: I will totally be going to see it at least once. More if I think it's awesome. Which I hope I will. Though God, the half-hour car ride to the nearest theater showing it is less than happy-making.)

Date: 2009-06-13 08:14 pm (UTC)Really? Jeez. I'm not sure whether I'm surprised or not after Connie and Carla. I mean, it was pretty pro-gay overall, but it was kinda about two straight women becoming a huge success by pulling a Victor/Victoria.
