More Trans* Magical Girl ramblings

soc_puppetI really need a title for this story. I'll add it to the list of things that need names.
Worldbuilding time!
So I'm imagining that wolves in general are kinda guardians of Earth or something? And the evil being wanted a piece of that, but knew it couldn't get it without weakening the magic wolves first. So it sowed distrust in the hearts and minds of humans, who then hunted the wolves, especially the magic wolves. Eventually, the magic wolves were weakened enough that the evil being could lock most of them into another dimension. A few got away, but the really important ones, the leaders, are trapped and separated from Earth.
The magic wolves that got away hid themselves to escape the evil being. Most of them hid as humans, since it was safer, but some hid as wolves, because it was more natural to them.
Fast forward to Ruby's time. The leaders of the magic wolves finally found a way to get a single wolf back into the human world, but knew they would need help from their magic human allies, as in olden times. So they sent the younger sibling of the leader with a locator spell to find a human who could help their cause: to help the magic wolves return to the human world, and to expel the evil being. The young magic wolf finds Ruby and recruits her to the task.
The descendants of the magic wolves that escaped the evil being's reach still live among the humans (and some among the wolves). For various reasons, the evil being chiefly uses them as pawns it sends to destroy Ruby and the young magic wolf (who really needs his own name by now), and it is Ruby's task to bring them back to themselves. In doing so, she helps the young magic wolf build a pack of magic wolves who will be able to open a gate to the dimension where the other magic wolves are trapped.
A lot of magical girl stories have a "team" aspect, frequently with one-at-a-time teambuilding, and I thought this would be a great way to do that for Ruby. I'm planning for at least five new magic wolf recruits, one of whom is Ruby's childhood friend and one of whom is one of the few surviving descendants of the magic wolves who hid as wolves (and thus was raised as/is more comfortable as a wolf). It's entirely likely that Ruby and her team will need to defeat the evil being before they can free the other magic wolves.
(I am also slightly planning a small side-story/afterward, after Ruby and her team have beaten the evil being and magic wolves have once again integrated themselves into society. And there is at least one human-raised magic wolf who discovers their heritage and realizes they prefer to be a wolf. And maybe they get a happily-ever-after romance with the magic wolf on Ruby's team that was raised by wolves? Or maybe with someone else, IDK yet. It's still mostly just a thought.)
Now I just need a reason for the evil being to be invading/attacking Earth. Hrmm. Maybe it eats magic?
