IDK, sometimes I really feel like starting something to be called along the lines of “Pokemon GO With Me” to match up people who don’t feel safe Pokemong GO-ing it alone with someone who would boost their confidence and/or safety, or for people with disabilities who can’t always access where specific Pokemon are.

And then I think not just of how much work it would be, but how much work on top of that it would be to make everything as safe as possible. Because the people most in need of such a service are also the people most likely to be hurt by it.

Makes me wish there was an easy solution. Unfortunately, racism, misogyny, transphobia, ablism, etc etc etc (etc, sob) are probably a lot harder to get rid of than such a system would be to set up and monitor.

It is not a bad idea. Just difficult to implement in a way that both is just and does the idea justice.

Ugh, yes, precisely. I mean, I only had to see two articles to come up with it (one more official article about the potential dangers of being black while playing Pokemon GO, and one more casual Tumblr post about, "Okay, but what if that Pokemon is up a flight of stairs and I'm in a wheelchair?"), but it's also really easy to think of how it could be abused :( A dating-site type matchup formula might work (or similar format, like speed dating, but for Pokemon GO matchups), but it's way beyond me to do much more than plant the idea.

(fortunately the Pokemon don't seem to care about height at all but that's no help if an entirely inaccessible structure contains one!)

Yeah, I thought I read something else about someone walking into a swampy area for a Pokemon? And I just can't imagine doing that with a cane, crutches, etc.

Yeah, not so much. Or... well, things involving interacting with city infrastructure, because there's more stops and gyms and thus more Pokemon in cities.
