I've figured out that there's a certain breed of plunny that I'm particularly susceptible to, where I notice a particular trope in a fandom (or in general), love all over it, but by the fourth or fifth fic my brain is like, "Okay, but there's something you're not addressing here, Fandom." So my brain comes up with the... Well. Here's the problem. I'm not sure I actually want to call it a fix? Because it's only a problem for me in the way problems can be things that generate ideas (as in, if necessity is the mother of invention, this might be invention's aunt or sibling). I generally really enjoy the things that inspire these plunnies, I guess I just think there's a gap there that needs to be filled or something.

I was at a complete loss for how to describe these "Yes, But Have You Considered" plunnies without making it sound like I don't like what inspired them, which is very, very rarely the case. I think I've finally stumbled on a metaphor that works for me, though, and, as so many of my metaphors are, it's culinary in nature :P

When I get these ideas, it's like being served a delicious meal/dessert/foodstuff, eating it right up and going back for seconds, and then stopping to think, "Oh man, this would be so great with [other ingredient]!" It's not that I dislike rhubarb pie; in fact, I love rhubarb pie! It's that I suddenly realized that strawberry-rhubarb pie would be absolutely fantastic, and I need to make some Right Now.

Food metaphors go so easily hand-in-hand with satisfaction, IMO. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm feeling a bit peckish ;)
