Mixed Feelings

soc_puppetI really want to like the song Jessie's Girl (mostly because of Mary Lamber's heartbreaking cover), but I always end up with mixed feelings whenever I listen to it. Mostly because, for as many times as I've heard the song, I only know four things about the girl in question:
* She has eyes
* And a body of some sort
* She's a woman
* She's dating Jessie
That's it. That's all we know about her. Nothing about her personality, her sense of humor, her likes and dislikes (outside of Jessie, apparently), just four little things, and even those are spare on details. Which pisses me off, and rightly so, I think.
On the other hand, because it's so spare on details, we can interpret those details however we like. Those eyes she watches Jessie with? She can see right through his skin, as well as up to fifteen minutes into the future and past; there are at least twelve of them at any given time. According to her, he looks especially cute in the third dimension over. That body? Literally indescribable. It's really hard to find a woman like her because she's from a strange and distant planet at the far corner of the universe. Woman is one of fourteen common genders in her culture, but there's plenty more that are less well-known. She has a younger sibling who is flazernef, in fact. She has asked politely to be referred to as "Jessie's Girl", because saying her real name puts unnecessary strain on human vocal chords (and psyches).
Now, if only we could get a music video interpretation of that Jessie's Girl...
