Inspired by spite at the folks who buy plus-size clothing and turn it into straight-sized clothing, and also by needing more pants, I decided to start Operation Fusion Pants today.
Step One: Buy pants to fuse: Complete
Step Two: The Seam Ripper: Current step
Step Three: Contemplate the merits of hip-side pockets
Steps Four and onward: ???
Let's see if this works!

Date: 2019-02-16 05:03 am (UTC)I just basted the first leg, and it's so far, so good. I ripped the outside seams of Pants A open, so they're serving for the "base pants"; then I ended up cutting the inside seam of Pants B completely out, since seam ripping was taking too long on them, cut out the zipper to boot, and basted the entire leg of Pants B onto the leg of Pants A. It turned out way roomier than I need it, so I'm going to try with just half a leg (outside seam to inside seam) for my second try and see if that's any closer (as I'm hoping it will, for style as well as function). It certainly seems promising, though!
