That's the case for most people, from what I'm aware. Something about digesting food taking up a whole lot of energy, I think?

A quote that's always stuck with me from Charlotte's Web (the animated version, and in the actual narrator's voice) is: "When your stomach is empty and your mind is full, it can be hard to get to sleep." Worse comes to worst, I can usually fix at least one of those things fairly easily.
