So we know almost nothing about Emilie Agreste, except that she's Mostly Dead and Gabriel and Adrien love(d) her.

We also know that the Peacock Miraculous is broken, and I'm reasonably sure the show implied the two things (Emilie being down for the count and the broken Miraculous) are directly related.

We also know that Gabriel is an emotionally abusive asshole.

What if... the Peacock Miraculous hasn't been broken for very long. What if it got broken, by someone very specific, when Emilie was trying to leave.

What if that completely horrifying yet frighteningly plausible scenario.

Not yet, but now you have me wondering if I pulled an accidental psychic plot device theft again. On the plus side, that would mean I don't have to worry about writing it.

Re emojis: Is it? Squee! :) Do most emojis have coloration? I honestly don't know, beyond the ones that screenreaders plainly state as being colorful (the hearts, any with skin tone choices.

Re plot devices: I hadn't entirely gone there, in the sense that I haven't written the thing out yet and am still plotting just how it should go. I credit silveradept with the idea of an argument between wielders over the proper uses of miraculous. Connected to that, Gabriel's capacity for controlling cruelty is definitely going to play a role. The way I'm thinking, the domineering aspect+the man's quick, cold temper combine to horrible effect. I won't go into details beyond that, the better to avoid spoilerific spoilers for this AU, and possibly triggers as well. I can DM, if... I don't know if that's of interest?

Yep; most of the generic faces are yellow with white eyes, or variants on that. Every single emoji on my phone has some sort of color to it; even the ones that are just black, like musical notes, are more of a really dark gray. Your peacock emoji has a blue body, teeny orange feet, and a mostly green tail with--er. Okay, zooming in super far, there's a fan of seven feathers for the tail, and each one has little dots of blue and orange. The peacock even has a teeny, tiny beak! I don't think it has a crest, but considering the level of detail that already went into it, I'm not sure I'd even notice one. A very cool and detailed emoji.

Sigh. I miss the days when I still thought Gabriel was capable of redemption. I'll probably stick with it if I ever write the continuation of All the Names I Know You By I have planned, but otherwise...

I think I'll tag out for the time being. Once I read what you've got written, I may come back for it, though.

Pretty much! I mean, if canon actually goes there, I'll eat my hat, but there's more than enough setup for it. (It looks like chanter_greenie may already be exploring this idea, as well... Less angst for me to write!)

There's related questions and so forth, but it would explain why Hawk Moth can't just use the Butterfly to make a healer. Restoring Emilie's health would be...insufficient.

There's that recent episode where he talks about fixing 'our' mistake, but...well, it's not that hard to read that into this idea. Wow.

Yup. "You were running away so I hurt you" is absolutely something an abuser would blame on both parties.

Not that I expect canon to go there at all. I'm not sure canon even realizes that Gabriel is abusive.
