I'm finally getting around to watching Heart Hunter and Miracle Queen, the Miraculous Ladybug Season 3 finale! I just got to the Andre Glacier part, and I had to pause to say...

Orange and peppermint? Who took over Andre there? Has he never had the uniquely terrible sensation of drinking orange juice after brushing his teeth? Blackberry and peppermint is better, but not as much as any of us would like; spearmint would be better with blackberry, and even then it can't save the combo with orange. At least orange and blackberry make sense. Also, WTF happened to the flavor count? I thought three flavors was standard, especially for couples.

Clearly something horrible happened to Andre and Astruc didn't mention it because "it wasn't relevant to Marinette and Adrien's story".

Edit: Finished! Gosh those were a stressful pair of episodes. Time to find me a palate cleanser...

honestly I think Astruc just wanted to be an ass about polyamory in order to inflict a bit more self-sacrificial emotional pain on Marinette in these two episodes, in a way that wouldn't come across as anti-wlw.

I think I figured out what happened: Andre broke up with his two-plus polyam partners a week ago because he thought things were getting too complicated, and has been putting on a brave face and ignoring polyam signals ever since. Now if we're following show formula, someone needs to be akumatized over polyam sadfeels, and Andre will learn his lesson and grovel appropriately.

Yes, clearly this is what happened. Nothing can convince me otherwise.

Headcanon accepted! We will ignore the fact that this is a show that has used subtext and indirect hinting to show queer relationships and assume that it's right there ready to discuss the ups and downs of polyamorous life.
