I would probably have been slightly less surprised by armed Trump supporters (read: terrorists, seditionists, insurrectionists, white supremacists, etc), storming the White House today if:
1) I had paid more attention to the date
2) I had paid more attention to the date as anything besides the results of the Georgia Run-Off (yay, Blue Senate!)
3) I hadn't been expecting this to happen two weeks from now instead of today
The fact that Trump still has pardoning powers at the moment and will ostensibly lose them in two weeks may have something to do with the timing, now I think of it.
Anyway, 2021 is roaring back.

Date: 2021-01-07 05:27 am (UTC)Also apparently Trump Tweeted some time back that he wanted his followers to storm DC on said date, but it's entirely possible I was too busy being relieved by Biden winning and the Covid vaccine for that to have stuck in my brain, if I even did notice.

Date: 2021-01-07 06:54 am (UTC)Right there with you on 3), with a side of... I expected less mob and more out-of-the-blue terrorist attacks? Not that we're guaranteed to not get those, but there's something about the openness and the amount of time they were just getting away with it that has me off-balance.
