Sweet mother of mercy, that post/those post chains going around Tumblr right now about whether or not RSD is a legitimate term are basically wall-to-wall rejection triggers, and I do not recommend it/them unless you can compartmentalize away from those for the reading experience.

Like. There's lots of potential for nuanced conversation there! And important things to be said! But Tumblr is not technologically designed for proper nuanced conversation.

And also, that thing about how guilt and shame are pretty much the exact opposite of helpful tactics when you're trying to convince someone of something? Goes at least as hard for people with emotional regulation problems, whatever they choose to call it, if not harder. There's a reason I work so hard to come up with diplomatic scripts for absolutely everything!

Hugs welcome and accepted. I managed okay, mostly because I didn't read the majority of it until I saw something in a reblog chain about the concept of RSD as a community term (and thus knew I had some countering acceptance coming up down the line), but it's kinda frustrating to see it go by on Tumblr. So many people participating have valid points, but all the sharp edges are still pointed at each other, and it's just... *sigh*

I try to remind myself that it wouldn't necessarily be less negative on a site like Dreamwidth, but it sure as hell would be slower and/or better contained!
