Health update again

soc_puppetFinally had my official ultrasound follow-up appointment with my doctor today. Endo turns out to have not been exactly the right diagnosis, but what I actually seem to have is only a bit to the left of endo. Or maybe it could be considered a specific sub-type? IDK.
More details under the cut (content warning for medical/uterus stuff): Anyway, it's called adenomyosis. Like endo, it's where the uterus lining grows where it's not supposed to; unlike endo, where it grows is entirely within the muscle walls of the uterus itself. Treatment's the same, except that a hysterectomy really would work with adenomyosis, whereas it doesn't necessarily with endo, since in endo uterus lining stuff grows places other than the uterus itself and removing the uterus wouldn't remove all of the endo spots. Still probably not something I'm going to go out of my way to try, especially if hormonal birth control works—which, so far so good on this prescription.
The other major difference between adenomyosis and endmetriosis is that Scarleteen doesn't seem to have a page on the former yet so I had to go by other sources of info 😜
