Me: Okay, Sunday was longer than expected, but I have Monday off and no major plans, so I'm gonna rest up, maybe do a little laundry, and finally get that job application filled out!
Life: Oh you think so, do you?
Anyway, when I got upstairs today, I learned that Nibling was visiting so his parents could get some extra rest. He is very cute and it was delightful to see and interact with him, but I was not expecting it. While I had initially gone upstairs to take my meds and get something to eat, Mom started talking about what to feed Nibling for lunch. I suggested macaroni, since we've got waaaay too many boxes of it, and Mom agreed; I then ended up making the macaroni, because why not? It wouldn't take too long.
It didn't, even though Nibling ended up not liking it much. But after that, I took the dog on a walk, because we don't have a good stroller and someone still needed to watch Nibling (and Dad was out doing stuff). And after that, Mom started talking about what she wanted to bring to the potluck tonight (of which this was the first I was hearing), and saying that cookies would take too long/too much effort. Maybe meatloaf? I suggested the traditional three ingredient peanut butter cookies, but Mom was really married to meatloaf, and did I have a good recipe? So naturally I pulled up the Spite Buffet meatloaf recipe.
Then Mom says to me, "How much would it cost for you to make it for me?" So off to the grocery store I went! I picked up five pounds of ground turkey (cheaper than hamburger, and I was pretty sure the meatloaf mix-ins would pair better with it), mixed everything up, put the pan in the fridge with cooking instructions on a sticky note, and went downstairs for a nap, my parents having delivered Nibling safely back to his own home.
I woke up hungry and craving turkey meatloaf (the kitchen still smelled nice), but my parents were still gone and I didn't know if they'd be bringing any back. Not liking any of the dinner options available to me, I eventually decided to go back to the grocery store and pick up grocery chain Chinese, as well as a few other essentials. Mom and Dad got back home shortly after I did, with half a pan of meatloaf left, so I guess I could have waited, but I'm still glad to have better sandwich stuff and more juice in the house. And anyway, now the meatloaf can be dinner for one of the next few days. I should put my name on one of the containers...
What with all that and getting a load of laundry in between everything (even if it's not folded) and other personal maintenance stuff, I ran right out of spoons to fill out my job application. Hopefully my boss will let me leave early on one of the next few days and I can get myself to take care of it then 😅😩
