soc_puppetNibling has hand, foot, and mouth disease, so Mom played chauffeur and went to pick him up from daycare and then Sister-in-Law up from her job and drop them both off at their house. While there, she forgot her phone. When she got back home, I volunteered to pick up her phone for her (she seemed tired, and it was a small errand), and Mom suggested I see if SIL wanted to hang out for a while, since SIL isn't getting as much non-work, non-baby time as she'd like.
So that's how I spent my afternoon hanging out with SIL! We chatted about fanfics and tropes and projects we're working on; after another false start, I finally finished re-vamping a crochet mermaid pattern I've been working on. You can see the initial prototype in this Tumblr post, where she's on a diplomatic meeting with Queen Shulamit bat Noach of Perach 😉 (The lines of the mermaid's tail ended up a bit to "flat" for me, so I redid the pattern to give her some very modest curves, and I like the results much better.)
Nibling woke up an hour-and-a-half into my visit, very upset because his mouth hurt. SIL managed to get him to take some medicine, and then the two of us coordinated to try and distract him/make him feel better. About half an hour into that, my brother (who works the night shift) also woke up, so I got to say hello to him as well!
All in all, it was a pretty good visit, I'd say.
