I had an immersion blender once. It was great. I kinda wish I still had one.
BTW, according to my Mother (The great and Wise), it does indeed count as your birthday if you start on the Birthday Eve. By her estimation, everyone's birthday celebration should last 8 days: the eve before and the week after. That way, if an emergency or something unpleasant falls on the day itself, you can have your main celebration at another time, and it would still count as "official."
