In other news, my brother's tested Covid positive 😐 He wasn't experiencing any particular symptoms as of the email he sent this morning, and I'm about 99% sure he's gotten his booster (he's definitely at least got both of his regular shots), so I'm less worried than I might be, but still. Oof.

I'm so sorry. I wish him a speedy and easy recovery. I hope he's close to asymptomatic, and am very glad he at least has had two of his shots!

He, like the rest of the family*, is definitely pro-science, and that's on top of working as a pharmacy tech in a local, well-funded hospital.

* With the possible exception of Nibling, who is only one year old and probably doesn't have much opinion on science yet, beyond figuring out how the natural world works in regards to hirself.

I'm extremely glad that he's pro-science and therefore had his shots and isn't about to try horse-dewormer or whatever the magic cure is today. I still hope it runs its course quickly and as close to asymptomatically as possible.

(Babies are some of the best natural scientists there are! Figuring out so much stuff for themselves through trial and error, without much of a body of research to base their studies on!)

I hope he's asymptomatic or close to it (and I hope he was able to get boostered), and I wish him a speedy recovery.

I'm going to get tested tomorrow. I am fully vaxxed and boosted, and I never stopped wearing a mask even after the CDC was saying vaxxed people could go without, but this variant is just so contagious and I had to travel by train back to the city last week. It's an hour long trip and while most people are really considerate and wearing masks (and wearing them properly), there is always at least one person in my car who just has to be a jerk and not comply. I had what I thought might be the beginning of symptoms two days later, but the symptoms disappeared in less than 24 hours, so maybe it was something else, or the vax really did it's job, but I want to make sure either way so I know whether I need to keep isolating.

So far he's saying he's had worse colds, and I've got my fingers crossed that's the way it'll stay!

Good luck! I'm pretty sure I managed to avoid it, even with both an in-person convention this past summer and travel by plane in fall of 2020, but man, Omocron is not in the neighborhood of kidding around. I should probably go order some N95s...
