Thumb Update (Thumbdate?)

Putting some more info under the cut; it's not particularly graphic or detailed, but some people are more sensitive to medical stuff than others.
I got to take the brace off, making typing much easier. I was not consciously aware before now that I use my dominant thumb (the injured one) to hit the space bar most of the time 😂 I'm still being careful not to over-work my thumb or bend it extra for the time being, but it does feel better to be out of the brace. My thumb can relax a bit more, even if I'm not quite ready to curl it all the way down to my palm.
Doctor's instructions:
1) Keep the brace on for 24 hours; no showering for 24 hours Done! My hair was already overdue for a wash yesterday, so that's definitely happening tonight
2) No soaking for 10 days - In progress
3) After 24 hours, clean wound with warm soapy water on a daily basis - about to do
4) Apply antibiotic ointment or similar to wound at all times; keep covered with a clean dry dressing
5) Follow up with doctor/worker's comp or return to ED in 10-14 days for suture removal
6) Report right away if there are concerning symptoms
The doctor advised that healing would likely take the longer estimation, since the thumb isn't exactly right up next to the heart by the ways cells can travel, but this is still much better than it could have been.
Edit: Okay, the shower may have overdone it, but at least now I'm clean and can take it easy again. Brace is back on overnight at least; we'll see what tomorrow brings.
