So a couple of months ago, the Food and Beverage Director (henceforth referred to as F&B) ordered five corn sacks from me. She told me she planned to give most of them to a friend of hers who worked with some elderly people. Well, what with one thing and another, it sounds like the corn sacks may have ended up living in F&B's car for a good while, but that turned out to be for the better.

See, this afternoon at work, F&B stopped by the bakery to see my direct boss. Direct Boss was in her office, but F&B took a moment to share something with me while she was there.

F&B lost her mother about a week ago. She told me that, on her last day, her mother had some major abdominal pain that was only relieved by applying pressure. F&B happened to remember the corn sacks in her car and brought them in to the hospital where her mother was; she said that, as soon as she put the corn sacks on her mother's abdomen, her mother went "Oh!" in a pleasantly surprised way.

F&B told me that her mother spent the last twenty or so hours of her life with the corn sacks I made helping to relieve some of her pain. F&B said I should keep doing what I'm doing.

If that didn't inspire me to get some more corn sacks made, I don't think anything could.

That's very sweet. (Sad, of course, but more sweet.) The fact that it could bring comfort to someone who needed it is very nice to know.
