I don't know a whole lot about mouse traps, but I can definitively say this:

If I can set a trap and drop it on the floor without it going off? That trap will not catch a mouse.

Well, true. (And I've known cats who couldn't catch a mouse if it was wrapped in giftpaper in front of their noses.)
