Productive things I did today

So I can brag to myself. Today, I:
- Crocheted at least three octopuses, possibly four
- Also crocheted a hippo
- Put together Mom's Xmas present (a new phone case complete with a ribbon phone strap)
- Walked a (short) Pokémon Go route twice, looking for Mateo (either my game is buggy, or he just plain doesn't show up when the route anchor is a gym instead of a stop/the start anchor is the same as the end anchor; I am somewhat Miffed about this)
- Took the dog on a half hour walk
- Folded some old laundry
- Did a whole load of new laundry, from wash to fold
- Picked up my now fixed car
I think I did pretty good today!

The phone ribbon loop strap is brilliant! How heavy-duty is the fabric – like lanyard strap?
(I'm a popsocket fan because I carry my phone in a bag on my lap, no pocket issues.)

Date: 2023-12-07 05:53 am (UTC)Honestly, the ribbon is just regular ribbon weight. I picked up something that looked relatively durable at Michael's to make ties for my work hats with (since the elastic keeps wearing out), and ended up using that for my phone strap, since it was the right width and I didn't want to make another trip. For my mom's and brother's straps, I picked out some sturdy-looking ribbon at Joann's. Mine has held up pretty darn well so far, with the hat ties having served me for probably at least five years now, but even if the ribbon straps happen to go out before I or my family members need a new phone case, they're pretty cheap and easy to replace 😛 And while lanyard strap fabric would probably be pretty great, I'm not sure how well it would fit between a phone and its case. If I were to start some sort of Kickstarter or whatever for phone straps in this style, I'd definitely want to use something more lanyard-like, but regular ribbon has been working great for personal use.
