Touched by a Rat

A super quick rat mood dump; I've got others that are finished, but I wanted to share this one in particular.

Four variations on "Touched":



About a month ago, I talked about the mood theme that inspired me to make my own; one of my favorites from RubyD's Heartless mood theme set is the image for "Touched", which has the titular Heartless being literally touched by someone (I think Kairi). I may also have mentioned here that making a new mood theme that's not based on a particular fandom can be a little tricky, because you can't rely on established characters to carry particular moods just by being them. In this case, I loved RubyD's idea so much that I wanted to steal pay homage to it in my own mood theme, but I also want to eventually make this mood theme available for anyone to use... and that means that, since I was using a human hand touching a rat, I didn't want the hand to only represent me.

So here's the four skin colors I settled on. With this mood theme in general, I've been trying to stick to web safe colors as much as I can, but the extra dark brown outline of the dark brown finger is outside of those colors, as are both skin tones of the pale finger. I redrew the finger for each version of this (and then twice more, because two of them didn't originally save properly 😅), but it's worth it to me. I think I might go in and make versions with finger splints later, as well. Damn, shoulda saved versions of the fingers with layers and un-shrunk...

Anyway, now I just have to decide which one I want to use for my journal 😂

Thank you 🥰 Inclusion and representation are important to me, so following through on them with my mood theme seemed like an obvious choice to me, even if it takes a little extra work.
