My laptop is giving me some minor issues; it's been losing internet connection reliably, usually within an hour of me starting up, and the only solution I've found so far is to restart it completely.

This has prompted me to look up exactly when I originally got my current laptop, and the answer is May, 2019. I've had this laptop for five-and-a-half years, and this is the first time it's given me any problems that have made me consider replacing it.

I'd say that's a damn good run!

(It's also right on time for me to make a birthday and/or Xmas request 👀 I may bring this up with my parents...)

It's a refurbished Dell; I got it secondhand from Goodwill Reboot while it was still operating in my city. That particular branch closed prooobably around the time when the city decided it wanted a $20 fee for every piece of large technology they recycled, which on the one hand? Fair. It's probably expensive to recycle that shit. On the other hand? Way to make us feel like we're being punished for recycling! Thankfully, printers and such are only $3 to recycle, and miscellaneous cords and batteries are free. There's also a Goodwill Reboot in the city where I work (half an hour's drive from where I live), so I'll probably be investigating there rather than trying to buy anything new. It worked out pretty well for me this time, after all, and it's not like I'm made of money at the moment 😓

Current laptop is a Dell running Windows 10. I'm used to Windows at this point, but Microsoft is going to end support for Windows 10 next October, so I may be looking into installing Linux instead, IDK.

That's a wonderful lifespan for a Dell.

Goodwill Reboot is a brilliant idea! I wish we had a similar program here in Madison but I sure haven't found one yet.
