See, about half a year ago, 'Kenchan and I went to Anime Central. I had a blast and saw a total of three DC/MK cosplayers (one Conan, one Kid and one Akako, the second two running around together and the last I failed to immediately recognize (oops - -;)) which was three more than I expected to see and who totally made the con for me.
Anyway, the con ended with me getting a terrible idea for a cosplay, and telling 'Kenchan all about it, and the two of us agreeing that we had to do it together. It involves an awful pun (which is awful as much in that it's a real groaner as it's really obscure--you have to know both who Himura Kenshin of Ruroni Kenshin is as well as have a familiarity with the Nekoken, or Cat Fist, of Ranma 1/2 >_<; I expect almost no one to get it without prompting) and was completely irresistable.
Announcer: Have you ever desperately needed a Pocky fix, but the crowd in the dealer’s room was just too aggressive? Ever wanted to take over the world but didn’t have the manpower to do it? Kaoru: Kenshin. (NekoKenshin pouts) Kenshin! (Kaoru pulls a Pocky box out and shakes it)
NekoKenshin: (looks at Kaoru, smiles, nods, and turns to audience) (cue ‘Meow Mix’ theme)
Kaoru: (when NekoKenshin is finished) Good boy! (Gives NekoKenshin a Pocky stick and pats him on the head)
NekoKenshin: (delightedly) Meow! (munches away)
Announcer: Be warned: supplies are limited, so order yours today!
Kaoru: Come on, Kenshin. (drags NekoKenshin away kicking and screaming)
Announcer: (as Kaoru is draggin NekoKenshin offstage) NekoKenshin, only from Otaku Industries—makers of the Pocky Mousetrap, to keep those prying hands out of your Pocky!

I'll be playing Kaoru, most likely. (Yaoi fans, DON'T KILL ME. You will regret it.) 'Kenchan will be playing Kenshin. We will be trying to find a third person for the act there, but failing that, we can get the MC to play the announcer.
Earlier today, 'Kenchan pointed out that we were missing something: a leash. Or, more specifically, a leash and a collar. Because, well, it would be really... er, something to see Kaoru walking around with Neko!Kenshin on a leash. And we needed it for the skit. And stuff. So I went to get one.
It was tremendously embarrassing to go into a pet shop and pick out a collar and a leash (and because I'm easya bell for the collar), especially when Mom and I got to the cash register and the cashier, noting the bell which was probably intended for cat collars, and the collar, which was probably _not_ intended for cats, told us that if the collar didn't fit we could leave the tag on and exchange it for one that did later ^^;... Looking back, I realize it might have been easier to just say 'It's for a costume' than to stand there and probably blush, as some stores have had Halloween stuff for sale SINCE AUGUST >_<, but I'm slow sometimes.
So now I have a collar and a leash and a bell for a cosplay skit on Saturday. And I've been completely unproductive in all other fan related categories >_<. I need to make a sh/tload of hair ties before tomorrow. And do a bunch of writing. At least I finished the Kid's hat...
