I totally get why creeping charlie has a bad rep (and, as of making this post, am zero percent surprised to learn that it's in the mint family), but it is such a pretty plant. Those tiny trumpet-like flowers! The purple edges on the scalloped leaves! The way it perks up in spring alongside dandelions and violets! I have absolutely no objections to it taking over an entire lawn.

I totally agree. It's not so wonderful underfoot, though, so if one wants to frolic in the yard with one's companions.

My lawn is lumpy and bumpy and stick-covered enough (not to mention saturated in deer poop) that I rarely walk on it in bare feet anyway 😂 So I think I'm safe in that regard!

Today I learned what creeping plants/creepers are and, just like you, I am not surprised that they're in the mint family xD

My mom used to joke that if you want to ruin a gardener's life all you have to do is throw some Bermuda grass and some mint in their garden, they'll never get be free :D

Well, this strain of creeping plant, at any rate. Vinka/Perrywinkle also tends to spread out in a similar way, IIRC, and I'm 99.9% sure without looking it up that it's not a strain of mint. (Also very pretty, though!)

I hear tell that the way to fight mint is with other species of mint 👀 Though at some point, won't you have a garden or lawn that's entirely overrun with mint subspecies? (Perhaps not the worst fate in the world...)

Maybe they'll mix together to create a superior strain of mint, who knows! :D
