I haven't gone to sleep yet, so that means this still counts as Friday, right? Right.

Anyway, I permitted myself a trip to the grocery store. I don't think Mom or Dad went anywhere (aside from dog walks)? But I spent most of the day other than the aforementioned trip in my room, so.

Current time filler: I managed to Catch Them All: Swish Edition, so I'm working on the challenges for Pokémon HOME. I'm not likely to get the full Pokédex any time soon—I'm missing exactly two mythical Pokémon who were each given out in a one month time span a good year before Swish was released, when I was super burnt out on Pokémon console stuff and not feeling up to talking to a Gamestop employee just to get a couple of 'dex-fillers who don't count towards the Shiny Charm anyway (Marshadow and Zeraora are who I'm missing, for those playing at home)—but I should be able to get a lot of the rest. GTS stuff might be a chore, since apparently the app doesn't count stuff you deposit(? WTF?), but I'm making good progress on "deposit 30 Pokémon in [x special] balls".

Welp, my paid time off has been extended through early May, so that's. That's a thing. The hotel was using the quarantine as an excuse to complete renovations with no one around, and now renovations are taking a bit longer than expected. We were previously scheduled to open back up right after Easter (so no Easter brunch, and not having to worry about that was already a load off my mind), and now there's another three weeks on the end of that. So. Wow.

I was pretty close to going to the grocery store today; I might actually go tomorrow. I'm on my last container of my favorite juice, and there are a few practical things I want to pick up. (Also maybe sushi, because our grocery store sushi is actually not terrible.) Otherwise, it was business as usual: Driving around to visit Poké-stops.

Dad went out and delivered three more loaves of bread to various people; no-contact drop-offs, all of them. He got a free oil change from the previous bread drop-off, from some elderly neighbors who weren't going to be leaving the house any time soon to get it themselves, which worked out well for everyone involved, IMO.

I've gone through about half my jar of instant dry yeast so far, which is considerably more than I expected to, and maybe a third to half of the 20lbs of bread flour my parents brought home a few weeks back. It's still nice to be baking at home. I may have to start thinking about alternate leaveners, though; keeping a sour in the fridge is definitely an options, but not a terribly viable one at my house (our fridge is usually a mess and/or over-full, and not infrequently both at once), but there are other methods, baking soda and powder among the easier of them.

I think Mom's only been out to walk Chester, but I'm not sure. And that's everyone!

Missed yesterday's log, so I'm lumping it in with today's.

Yesterday, Mom and I took Chester to the dog park. It was the Trans Day of Visibility, so I went decked out in my "I'm a Genderqueer Dragon" shirt and my genderqueer pride chainmaille bracelet. I just wanted to be extra visible for a teeny bit of it. We mostly stuck to good distancing (me better than Mom), but Mom did hand a little girl a treat to give to Chester, so that's... a thing.

I think Dad stayed in yesterday? Not sure. He went out today, though, to the grocery store. I overheard him talking to one of his sisters this evening, and it sounds like not being able to go out is having a harder time on him than I thought, so I'll try to think more kindly of him and his frequent grocery store trips (which means I'm still worrying, but I'm a lot less angry at him for it).

Today I took Chester to the river walk area, and we spent about an hour wandering around there. There were some other groups of people, but I made sure to keep good distance from them; Chester tended to get a little closer, but by coincidence his leash is six feet long, so as long as he was at the end of it, I figure we were both pretty safe.

An excellent plus is that, on our walk today, I saw that the eagle's nest by the river is once again occupied! I'd missed any occupants on my walk with Mom the other day, so I was extra happy to see an eagle landing there today.

And now, back to bread and My Cat From Hell.

I can make it on time today! I remembered before midnight!

I took Chester out for a walk at a small park; there were other people there, but we didn't get within six feet of any of them, so we're good.

Mom took Chester on a loooong walk before that; not sure about her interactions.

Dad had food charity stuff to do today, so he went to at least one grocery store.

He's also paying me to make bread for some of our neighbors. Not a lot, but it's getting the bread flour used up, and I like the gesture of making stuff for the neighbors anyway, so I'm good.

Aaaaand... done!

Whoops, missed yesterday!

Nothing much to report anyhow; I did my Pokémon drive-around, and that's it, though I'm not sure if my parents did much.

I also made some bread, using maybe 5% of the flour that Mom and Dad brought home last week. I doubled the recipe for two loaves, but they didn't get very tall, so I think I might triple it instead tomorrow-ish. It feels good to be baking again, even if the dish washing situation is more frustrating at home than at work. (Dear Maude, to have a professional-level three compartment sink at home...!)

Successfully stayed home and/or in the car today.

Mom ordered McDonald's via the app and went to pick it up, which I think, aside from dog walks, is the most "outside-y" thing any of us has done today.

Yay?

So apparently I lied about not leaving the car for another week. On the plus side, there were literally no other humans at the location where Mom and I took Chester for a walk, so I'm counting it as neutral.

On the other hand, Dad went out grocery shopping. I am disinclined to make bread when there is plenty of bread in the house, but what does Dad do when we don't have plenty of bread in the house? Go out and buy some. "It's good to have pre-sliced bread!" he tells me, as if I can't pre-slice a loaf I make at home and stick it in one of our leftover bread bags.

Sigh. Even that wouldn't have been as much of a problem if it weren't for the still twenty pounds of bread flour sitting unused... Maybe I can haul it to work and use it up there (on my own time) when we reopen...

I was about to go out on a Poké-stop drive when Mom was leaving for the dog park, and I gave in to temptation. Chester had a pretty good time, as did I (though I ended up wishing I'd left my jacket at home), but Mom...

...Mom. Mom, I love you, but that is not a distance of at least six feet from all humans outside of your household. They were all "just" pass-you-on-the-walkway type interactions, and they were at least three feet away, but still!

Anyway, that was my "leaving both the house and the car" trip for the week. I don't think Dad went out at all today, either, but I'm not certain. At least it made Chester happy.

(For yesterday, whoops)

Went out driving for Poké-stops, but otherwise stayed in the house. Don't think Dad went anywhere. Mom took Chester to the dog park; he's been needing the stimulation. She invited me along, and oh but I wanted to go. Doggos! Chester running around! Chester actually sorta playing 'fetch'! Fresh air and exercise for me! But no; I stayed in, instead.

I also made cookies today; they were visually inspired by my fic, Your Flavor, but not so much in the recipe; I was almost as tempted to go to the grocery store as I was to go to the dog park. Just a small package of oreos and a little bottle of strawberry or rose flavoring! (I would love it if the closest grocery store had plum blossom or melon flavor, or cornflowers, but somehow doubt they would. I'm not even sure the local food co-op would, or even the bulk food store forty minutes out of town that has all the cool niche ingredients. Alas!)

Anyway, they turned out pretty good; there are still some left in the fridge, but I'm not sure how long that'll be true 😉

I don't think Mom or Dad went out today, though I can't say for certain.

I personally decided to walk half a block to the closest Poké-stop instead of driving; get some fresh air, stretch my legs, actually be touched by the sun's rays, etc. I ended up passing by six different humans (and one dog) on the same side of the street as me, and while I did my best to maintain distance, the distance between the curb and the sidewalk was a little narrow in the place where I passed every single one of them, WTF. Lesson learned; I'll be switching back to driving to Poké-stops tomorrow.

Dad did indeed go out to do food volunteer stuff today; I stayed home except for a drive, where I stayed in the car. I don't think Mom went out, but I'm not sure.

Just trying to keep track of this for my own sake, or... something, IDK.

Contacts today )

I'm currently debating whether to post these under a locked filter or not; I am vaguely planning to keep doing them for at least a while, at any rate.

Today we ran out of my preferred mayo, which does not have modified food starch added, and are down to my very-not-preferred mayo. I'll probably be switching to margarine the next time I eat any sandwiches, because fuck mayo with modified food starch. Same for cottage cheese with any. It's entirely possible that Dad will pick up some Preferred Mayo on Monday; he volunteers for local food pantries and goes out to pick up food for them from grocery stores, so he'd be at one anyway for actual good reasons.

I've also discovered that fighting Max Raid Battles in Pokémon Swish is the perfect time to listen to all that music I bought yesterday; I can pay attention to either when I need to without feeling like I'm missing something important, which I'd had a problem with when listening to audiobooks or podcasts.

Oh, speaking of listening to things! My first podfic from Fandom For Australia will be on its way shortly! I am very excited ♥

I had contact with exactly one-ish person who was not one of my parents today, and that was the pharmacist who was working the drive-thru at CVS today. Given their system, I feel like it would have been reasonably comparable to having them drop off my prescription, and I made sure to wash my hands thoroughly and scarf-up before driving over as an extra precaution.

Watched the first half of Good Omens with my parents today; Mom was very excited to watch it. It's rare that we find something all three of us are really interested in watching at the same time. I got a bit of crocheting done; put wings on three pigs and made a ball with nubby bits to chew on for a dog belonging to one of my grandma's friends. I feel reasonably accomplished today.
