ysabet, I have discovered the truth. You must actually be a minor cooking/writing diety taking refuge on earth because all the other gods and goddesses
can't take a joke are boring. You also deserve a small shrine in my kitchen--not only where the food is, but the computer with internet access--with fairly regular offerings of... I don't know yet. Suggestions? (Which is to say, I tried the cashew-and-Hoi Sin sauce ramen and loved it to bits <3. I don't suppose you'd have a relatively easy chocolate recipe? Somewhere near the level of 'heat and pour'? Or even just tips? I'd be willing to bribe/trade you something for it.)
nekokenchan's birthday is tomorrow ^__^. She will be turning legal-to-buy-pr0n-gamble-and-cigarettes (which I turned in Nov.). I'm only saying that here to embarrass the living daylights out of her and to appologize for the fact that the fanservice pic I wanted to draw for her birthday will probably be a week or two late ^^;... Ah, well. I planned on posting art on
Singles Awareness Valentine's Day anyway, and it should be done by then.
Had trouble getting to sleep last night. Gave up around midnight and went upstairs and read slash (of varying quality >_<) until about four hours later. Surprised I haven't gone into microsleep yet, actually. Also surprised how much energy I have. Still, was a bit... emotional today; sleep is probably good for keeping emotions under control, yah? Also felt dehydrated, which was _wierd_... Never thought to link dehydration with insomnia/lack of sleep; still kinda skeptical.
Will possibly be posting next parts of Communications in Friends view tomorrow.
summercloud, I hope I won't be stepping on any toes, but the second of the two has already been beta'd and I feel a bit... impatient I guess. Still won't be posting to FF.net until it's been beta'd, though, and probably not on public view either.
Recently got a new piece of music for orchestra; it's inspired by(?) the
Ascention part of Dante's
Divine Comedy. Pat (
nekokenchan) commented that, between this, large group speech, and a few other things, she will never escape from Dante. I tend to agree ^^;.
Think that's about everything for now...

Date: 2005-02-01 05:26 am (UTC)Chocolate... Usually I only go so far as to make chocolate-dipped marischino cherries, which could be done while dead-drunk and one-handed-- you buy *MELTING CHOCOLATE*, i.e., chocolate made for melting and rehardening-- sometimes it's called 'Almond Bark', or there are types of chocolate chips that have instructions on the back for melting. Mostly you just put 'em into a bowl in the microwave for 20 seconds, stir lots, then nuke again for 20 seconds, stir, 20 seconds, stir, etc. until melted; then pour into a mold which has been oiled in some way or your chocolate will die like a dog. It WON'T come out whole otherwise. I usually use plain butter or some sort of unflavored cooking-spray (don't use garlic-flavored, not good). Candymaking or cakemaking stores (or even the Michael's Crafts chain) have molds for sale.
Was poking around the Net and I *did* manage to find this-- I think I'm going to inflict it on my anime group for Valentine's:
GREEN TEA CHOCOLATE-CHIP CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1 1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 tbsps maccha powder (green tea powder)
1 tbsp chocolate chips
PREPARATION:
Put butter in a bowl and stir well until soften. Add sugar in the bowl and mix well. Whisk eggs in another bowl. Mix eggs and butter mixture together. Shift flour and green tea powder together. Add flour in the egg and butter mixture and mix. Add chocolate chips in the bowl and mix together. Spread some batter and place baking wax paper inside of a medium loaf pan. Pour batter into the pan. Bake in preheated 360F oven for 35 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
Sounds rather strange; gonna try it! Glad you liked the HoiSin/Cashew Ramen; been eating it for years now, and it hasn't poisoned me yet.

Date: 2005-02-01 04:39 pm (UTC)I wasn't entirely sure we even had Hoi Sin sauce, so I had to check the fridge. I'm glad we did/do, though ^_^. Must be left over from when Tomoko was here, because none of the rest of us remember buying it.
The recipe is officially going on my favorites list.

Date: 2005-02-01 04:47 pm (UTC)HoiSin's wonderful stuff; I use it in a lot of things that you usually put soy sauce on, mostly because I like the sweetness and the faint bite. I keep wondering how it would do on okinomiyaki... Ever made that? I want to try it, but I haven't so far.
